Saw my Usenet downloads run at line speed at around the same time of your post, which is odd.
What area are you in?

I am in Bergbron. But other ISP running usenet speeds at full speeds at that time. On Afrihost it barely moves. Same issue every night between 19:00 and 22:00. After 22:00 it just suddenly start moving again at almost full speed. Seems like selective shaping/throttling

Which account do you have with us? Highly doubt it's selective shaping.
PM me your details and what your Usenet setup looks like and we can work through where the issues may be coming in.

Does seem to bounce around a bit, but shouldn't cause much of an issue.
What DNS servers are you using?

You say it shouldn't but it did cause an issue.
Watching a stream and having it buffer every 6-12 seconds really is irritating.

I have the 'Get Automatically from ISP' option ticked, haven't changed to 169.1.2.2 or 169.1.2.1 in a while.

You telling me that it shouldn't cause an issue when you are not having the same experience is really disheartening.

Let's say I wanted to watch a stream and have twitter or any other site open at the same time the stream would buffer constantly, greatly diminishing my experience which I and many others pay for.

I have been going through with you guys now a few times the last few weeks. Business unshaped account. Running through to the Afrihost server and it barely connects, this usually runs at . On the Astraweb server it does not connect at all in that time, or if does connect it runs at 1 KB/s.

I have done numerous line test, speed tests, etc for you guys, during these time, where nothing shows anything wrong at all Last week for instance Diablo had some issues in this time slot, but after sending a message, and the normal reply of try again, something comes right immediately meaning there is something wrong on your side. That is why i call it selective shaping/throttling. Why during these times, is normal browsing and streaming services the only items working, where other ISP in that times working at full speeds? This has been now ongoing since beginning April.

And I am not the only one having that problem. Going how many pages back you can see people complaining about the same thing over and over again. This is exactly where we were last year with all your problems.

I will PM my details and setup to you when I get back home later today.

 no had a power outage on Saturday, when the power came back on my connection didn't, have logged the fault using the same ref as before

Telkom are working on power redundancy for as many exchanges as they can, but we've seen some power outages that take days to resolve. Let's hope they get your exchange back up soon :(

Fully understand the frustrations around this, but as I've mentioned in the thread before - the more data we have to work with, the easier we can replicate the problem and implement a fix from there.
I know that tests can be frustrating, but I really don't feel like we're taking steps back here. In fact, quite the opposite :)

I'll keep an eye out for your PM and chase things up from there :)

It greatly depends on what is happening on those other services. Depending on your line speed, the idea is to give priority to your real time services, but ultimately multiple realtime service traffic could potentially contend with each other for your line's potential.

I have not posted much in this thread recently as I was told I am always negative, but I have to admit this is the exact issue I am having except with torrents, even the same times. Critical Care have been "looking" into this for me for over a month, and I still have not seen any improvement that lasts for more than a day or so.

Now even Steam has issues during these times where the Store front wont open. After 22:00 everything is 100% again.

Please keep our Critical Care team posted, I believe you guys are making some good progress :)

My line speed is 8Mbps syncing at 7, even with just the stream up it buffers.

I understand that Twitch could also be at fault here but having continuous issues is frustrating. With many other users also complaining about poor speeds, high ping and international throughput shows that there is a deeper underlying issue here.

Not sure if you saw my post from last week?

Managed to test a little after 22:15 last night, but this particular stream didn't seem to be live.
Tested a few others and have good throughput on 720P streams. 1080P completely saturated my line (I'm on 10Mbps) so there was buffering every 5 mins or so. From my 720P stream tests though, throughput peaked at around 860KB/s.

YouTube runs 1080P without any issues at similar throughput values to what Twitch needs on 720P.

Fully understand that there are frustrations here - can you install an app like BitMeter OS (or anything that works for you) to see what bandwidth is being demanded from Twitch?

Afri dudes, over the weekend think Friday evening at a stage I couldn't stream Showmax, app on my phone didn't even want to load the content, however speeds and all other websites were normal.
What tests must I do for you next time this happens, so that you can check it out?

Hi :)

Did ShowMax load up on other devices?

No, also tried on PC internet explorer and Mac Safari.

Thanks for confirming.
So when you're seeing issues to a site/ service - a traceroute/ MTR can show some issues. Where there's a spike in latency/ packet loss. It's usually a good place to start :)

Afrihost didn't send me any notification to alert me that one of my email domains has reached capacity. I've lost over 2 days of emails thanks to this. Even more annoying is that I have looked everywhere and don't see an option to delete stored emails automatically after a few days, so these stupid email accounts require exhaustive maintenance.

I think I'll be moving my hosting accounts from Afrihost over to Elitehost soon. This is too much for me.
