Afrihost news server now requires password?

Is this true? This is the error I get from SABnzb....

If so....do I just use my login credentials?

There is no need for a username or password. If you use too many connections SAB tends to complain about those which are over the server's limit. Just set it to 4 if i remember correctly.

Nope...now it says authentication failed.

My newsdeamon work 100% but that is a piad for server and i want to minimize the use of it.
My main reason for moving to afrihost...

are you actually ON afrihost's network? Because I know some news servers require authentication if you're connecting from a different ISP

Apologies if this is a dumb question (I did search before posting this), but I was under the impression Afrihost lost their News Server when moving over to MTN? Have I missed something?

I do see they list a news server here (http://www.afrihost.com/site/page/internet_configuration_settings) but I'm not sure if that page is simply out of date.

Shouldn't require a password to my knowledge and never has. Only requirement is that you should be on our network and using the correct port, etc.

Anyways, I'm trying to connect to
news.afrihost.com, port 119, no username and password, 4 connections, ssl off
I get:

(10061, 'Failed to connect: (10060, "(10061, \'Connection refused\')") [email protected]:119')

Any help?

Have you double checked your firewall settings to allow the app you're using or port 119?
Are you able to ping the box?

I am on Mwebs network (at work) and trying to connect to the news server and am also been asked for a username and password. I got mine from Afrihost (phoned support) entered it into sabnzb and get authentication error. I assume this is my ADSL account username and password.

Any ideas?

The news server only works if you're on our ADSL unfortunately So it's seeing that you're not authenticated on our IP ranges, and there aren't valid credentials to bypass this.
