They email me like every day! But yes, you should get email notifications.

Telkom sends out daily updates ! They probably knew I was going over to Afrihost and didnt bother...

They don't do daily notifications.
Only 50% and ~80% and capped.

that sucks cos we share our internet connection and monitoring the bandwidth not easy cos not at home most days

Well let me tell you - Afrihost don't know what the hell they doing re: bandwidth usage-

The email I got said I had 450Mb left on the last day of the month - so I dl'd and yes the 1/11/2009 I was over cap by 1Gig...

Opened a Ticket - "If you want accurate usage details then you better download 'Wireshark' to monitor your usage" idiot does not even know what Wireshark is used for.

Be careful be Very careful - one operator says IS updates usage hourly and the next one says IS updates 24 hourly - I mean WTF?

And sorry sir we can't give you a telco reference number when you phone in - WWTF -- jeesh it's 2009 is it not

I'd prefer to see a screenshot of the mail in question before i'd believe them to be recommending wireshark for network utilization monitoring rather than packet monitoring ( which one would use when possibly dealing with malware )

Thanks for the info, but how do they monitor bandwidth usage? isnt this done on a radius server?
