Hey all. Reckon I'm leaving MWEB, it's the 15th and I'm already at around 30GB so I'll likely be throttled by the end of the month.

1Mbit uncapped/10Mbit line.

What's Twitch.tv streaming like on Afrihost 1Mbit? Can you achieve 360p or 'medium' quality?

Might go for 2Mbit, but would like to hear from 1Mbit users.

Thanks.

I changed from Mweb to Afrihost hoping that I could stream TwitchTv without problems.... I still struggle to stream anything higher than 240p. This is on a 4Meg Business Uncapped account. I'm not sure if the problem is with Afrihost or TwitchTv?

That's not good, sounds like an Afrihost 'problem'. I've gotten 360p 99% of the time with MWEB. 480p on the odd occasion.

I routinely stream Twitch at 720p, but I'm on Openweb Gold 4Meg.

OW > all. End of story.

Before Twitch's servers were overload from all the people watching lol, I could 720p 60 fps dota and SC2 during the day without any issues on my 4meg gold.

Now it plays perfect on 480p/medium. Where there isnt a lol stream sucking 200k viewers, I can 720p streams.

Need info from 1/2Mbit AH and OW. I would assume 4Mbit to work well for up to 720p.

I use a Vox account on a 2meg line and i'm streaming netflix quite perfectly. It's never buffered and between 360 & 480 depending on the movie i watch. I will really recommend you look at vox aswell.. the uncapped bolt-on is awesome as it's uncapped & not shaped or speed depended, the speed limitation is on your Telkom line.

We did have some reports of issues on Twitch.tv a while back, and we could not replicate them in testing. It seems like whatever issues had occurred are no longer present to my knowledge - no changes were made on our side though.

Why not sign up for a Free GB for Life, and then check it out. Your experience on Capped and Business Uncapped should be the same as both are unshaped completely :)

Drop me a PM if you'd like to chat more about this :)

Twitch.tv has always had streaming problems. Used to struggle a lot on MTN Uncapped Lite. Currently have AH 1Mbps Uncapped and can stream 360p just fine.

OW 2mb gamersking. Tried it yesterday. Streamed 3 SC2 games at medium smoothly ~17h00....very impressed. Then at 22h00 medium was definitely not happening & even got rare lag on low. Tried TI...same thing. Check ping to google & didn't look like an exchange issue (its occasionally iffy with congestion). Both times were live streams...not sure how much of a diff that makes.

Not 100% sure what to make of it.

Let me know if you want something specific tested.

Will try again tonight...didn't catch the DH final yesterday. If I can find the damn thing....navigating twitch is still a bit of a mission.

edit...problem...recorded shows only in 480...which is def not streaming nicely.

On an open web 2mb gamer king (R30 more than my old 1mb Mweb account FTW ) , As long as its after 6pm during the week , can stream twitch at 360p with zero issues and even do some concurrent browsing in the background . On 1mb mweb , i could not do 360p ever and 240p refused to play smoothly most of the time.

100% here. Seems to work on high too - much to my surprise. Must be the blocky nature of minecraft. Seems like that is maybe a tad iffy...hint of lag every now & again, but not enough to trigger twitch's warning message about lag.

That feed seems to be recorded with a potato though. At least compared to the DH I watch yesterday (I was pretty amazed actually). 99% sure that feed yesterday wouldn't work on high.

See if beep can hook you up with a silver account for testing i rate. Though I don't think ow is the limitation here...seems to be maxing the line on high so 2mb might simply not be enough.
