Hi all,

So I've been on Afrihost + a while now.
My account however with Afrihost has changed over the last few months.

My account is now R256 which is as follows;

Plus: R99
Simfy: R0 (I don't even use this)
100GB account: R99
1GB + 1GB Mobile data for R58.

To topup my 100GB package with say, 50GB of data (because of how my + is setup, I get x2 data) is R250 !!!

It's not even worth it (IMO) to have Plus anymore.
I can just get another 100GB for R99.

My thing here is, if I wanted to add another 100GB, it should cost the same or be LESS!

This year is all about saving money...

Thoughts? suggestions?

Morning, medicnick83. :) To start off, I think it's great that you're thinking like this. Maximum value is definitely something that we want to offer our clients, but we also encourage our clients to manage their accounts in a way that makes the most sense.

From what you are describing here, it sounds like you are comparing a 100GB increase in your base DSL package vs a 50GB + 50GB topup in ClientZone. I think the two are a bit hard to compare seeing as the way we have structured our base packages to be cheaper per GB the higher you go, where the topup rate will never change (no matter how much you top up with).

Imo, if you have to top up by 100GB, it might make more sense to just up your base DSL package and maybe link the Double Topup benefit to your Mobile account?

I don't see the difference here... 100GB BASE DSL package, then topping up is TWICE the price - shouldn't it be = or less?
If I wanted to be clever about it, I'd just get multiple 100GB accounts if I wanted to use more - instead, I have 1x 100GB package, and topup if I need it to be but it's not worth topping up.

The mobile data is something I hardly use, when I do use it, I use it to finish it "simply cause"
At home I connect to WIFI
At friends I connect to WIFI
at work I connect to WIFI
at food places I connect to WIFI

I don't see the benefit of + anymore.

the per gig top ups have always been more expensive than the base packages Nick. So what the rep is saying, is that you might as well increase your base package if you are using more data than you expected you would. Its cheaper that way. So if 100 gigs is not enough, increase it to 200 gigs + afriplus and double the 200 to 400 gigs.

Topping up will always be more expensive and is usually more of an "emergency" measure. If you find that you're topping up 100GB at a time, upgrading your base package will definitely be a more cost effective solution. I think it's also important to note that Afrihost Plus is not something that we want to force onto our clients. If you do not see the need for it, or if you manage your account in a way that makes AfriPlus redundant, it's probably a good idea to cancel it and save a bit of cash. Others, however, can't live without AfriPlus! :)

Each to their own, I suppose.
