So I was streaming 1080p perfectly until 20:00 then suddenly no more 1080p for me ... ... and it isn't congestion cause other ISPs work perfectly

This is getting pucking ridiculous now

Not sure if the two queries are linked, but our guys are definitely working on a few things tonight :)

I was actually just being annoyed and I apologize, but man, like 3 days ago and till tonight I have been whining about YT being borked and only now you mention it is being looked at ... ... but yeah ... I am sorry for the attitude


Are we getting capped at certain times ? ... it isn't the first time I have noticed a considerable speed decrease once 20:00 rolls around

So slow it's almost useless tonight if it works at all.

Download Speed: 1508 kbps (188.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 830 kbps (103.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 10 ms
Jitter: 60 ms

Just bought Mad Max to have something to do while Afrihost doesn't work ... ... and guess what ... ... Afrihost is too damn slow to even download it ... ... hahahahahahaha
 
yeah, youtube has been horrendous lately, just hoping it gets sorted out quickly...
 
Great, tried to switch back to Afrigreen and bam its been cancelled and the consultant couldn't recreate Great stuff Afrihost now I sit with poor YT on Afrired.

Not a happy camper.

I can understand your frustration, but we also have to look at things based on a wider system impact. Our tests, from multiple locations and cities showed that YouTube was fine but we started replicating those issues yesterday and more noticeably last night, which has hopefully given the network team the information they need to trace the source of this.

I don't think we ever meant to deny your experience, we only ever work towards replicating what you are seeing, cos if we can't, it is very difficult to work with issue :(

Do we lose our ability to use Afrigreen if we switch back to Afrired ? ... that would be cheap if it was true ... ... I'd like to see what they say about this



On a different note, started downloading Mad Max last night, went to bed and when I woke this morning, steam says max download speed was 389kbps ... which is rather sad for a 10mbps line ... ...

Afrihost, what is going on the last week ? ... ... Did Afrigreen just become Afrired all over again ? ... ... How about just refunding me for the month and letting me move somewhere where we can actually get the service we are paying for ?

Definitely not great there. I also had some similar funnies, will report in a separate post.

We were definitely able to see the poor YouTube performance last night, from multiple locations tested and the network team have got all the data from our reports and clients to work with to try to fix this.

We've definitely been reading through the reports of poor performance.

My tests last night showed latency overall was great. I had good throughput overall on my line, maxxed on downloads consistently at about 1.4MB/s (which is average for my line). However, could not really break above 1Mbps for YouTube. Buffered pretty badly on 720p content. Comparitive tests showed my line could pull line speed on same video, so there is definitely something up, seems like it's specific to YouTube (but I didn't test other streaming services, to be honest).

Are there any other specific services showing these symptoms for you?

Didn't seem specific to YouTube yesterday. Another site I used for streaming was having the same issue. I moved over to the standard account and it was fine.

Currently everything seems fine on Afrigreen.

What site or service was that? We want to test everything we can to isolate the problem.

Twitch has never worked without extreme buffering, and most sites that play videos seem to have issues. I used to have big issues with supersport and dstv on demand until I got so irritated I cancelled those products. I reported these issues on the normal Afrihost network, thy were never fixed. I have currently switched back to the default account, as any Steam downloads on Afrigreen are extremely slow. I have a lot of computers that need updates.

My tests on Twitch were good on AfriGreen, but we'll definitely test that specifically. Downloads don't seem to be a general issue, we've tested HTTP, HTTPS, Torrent, NNTP and all seem to be great at the moment.
