What is the current contention ratio for Business account holders ? ... How does that compare to the contention ratio of uncapped users ?

And please stop with the hopes and dreams talk about why the POC was launched ... ... It is your job to be honest with us, no salesman talk

Contention ratios don't make any sense for Uncapped, it's always changing.
I'm not here to pull the wool over anyones eyes, I'm here to communicate updates with you - which is what I have been doing.

look, I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Last December when I joined (business uncapped) I thought I've finally found the ISP I was looking for. If AH can get THAT type of performance back again, I might even come back to AH, but I need to know 100% that ALL problems have been resolved.

And yes, I do mean ALL problems. I'm currently with VOX. I NEVER have to phone them, post on myBB, log tickets...NOTHING...because that's how an ISP is supposed to be. I pay them money and in exchange I get to use the internet (without issues).

Get this ^^ right and I'll come back.

It's on the cards :)

Keep telling yourself that...

It's been atrocious for the last few days. I've logged numerous tickets and received absolutely no help. This will definitely be my last month with Afrihost. I'm tired of paying for testing their network. What a joke.

That's exactly what we're aiming for, and exactly the reason the POC was setup in the first place.
So things will get better.

Please see previous posts on the thread where this is addressed.

You're asking too much from this guy.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Your network is absolutely rubbish at the moment though.

Some services aren't great as the POC IPC has reached it's physical capacity. This will be resolved once a production IPC is rolled out.

Just wanted to post some clarification around what'll be happening here, I may have confused everyone (including myself)
So the POC portion of Afrigreen (what we're all currently testing) is staying as is. The actual production is essentially a copy paste of the configs and how things have been working, but is new equipment.

The POC was setup with xGbps that cannot be upgraded.

Hey guys

The network guys have given us an update on the Afrigreen POC.

The feedback and participation of everyone here is vital to everything that has got us this far, and both the network team and all the reps are supremely grateful for everyone’s contribution.

We’ve now come to the end of the POC phase and are preparing to move into production. We have already started implementing the infrastructure required to have points of presence (IPC) in 3 regions (North, South & East).

We believe that LAB simulations aren’t always a true reflection of how we use the internet so part of the POC required that we simulate a constrained network.
Due to physical limitations on the physical Network Core Equipment we cannot upgrade the POC IPC capacity but we’re very excited that the new Network Core Equipment is being deployed and will soon be ready for use.

We’ll keep Afrigreen running and we’ll migrate it to the new production network over the next few weeks (in October). We’ll be sending out official communications early next week (from Gian, our CEO) with more accurate dates.
Till then, our team will continue running tests on Afrigreen with intentions of making the migrations as smooth as possible.
You can still use your afrihost.co.za ADSL username on the MTN network and we’ll let you know once we’ve migrated Afrigreen to the new network.

We’re very grateful to have had the opportunity to drive demand on the POC as high as possible to simulate conditions in the real world, like if we experience a major loss of IPC capacity. This has been extremely valuable to the team to be able to test scenarios and network policies that will ensure that we provide the best experience we can under difficult conditions.

Again, we’d like to thank everyone for testing, providing feedback and just being part of this awesome new phase of Afrihost’s development as a service provider. We’re honoured that so many have been so diligent in their feedback both here and via ClientZone, you’ve made a huge contribution to the new network!

But we must continue paying, right?

We've been massively transparent around how things have worked - we aren't forcing you to continue to stay on Afrigreen.
Any billing disputes can be raised with our Accounts team directly, however I need to stress that for the majority of it's existence, we've seen really good performance out of Afrigreen.

Afriguy, why does it seem like the business guys are getting the ****ty end of the stick along with home uncapped?

The prevailing impression that we've gotten (or at least mine) is that the capped accounts seem unaffected right now.

To be honest the news of you moving green to production could not have come at a worse time. As it currently stands I'm ping-ponging around from green to red to try and get a lower lag experience / higher download speed etc (not just the last few days when its gotten really bad but for the last few weeks).

If green has reached capacity and red clearly hasn't had work done to it so is in the same state as it was pre-green perhaps you should have limited people joining so to preserve the available capacity (or even un-enrol the newest users).

Yes I realize it is a POC and is designed for testing BUT I think I'm not the only one here that has to resort to it as a matter of necessity to get the internet experience we have continued to pay for on Red.

To be brutally honest if we need to sit through another month of Meh I'm not sure I want to stay a customer. I'm a firm believer in brand loyalty but it is getting a little tough to keep that loyalty when your saving grace seems to still have so many problems.

PS Tickets still haven't been replied to even after escalating through you.

The problem with that is, normal Afrihost Business Account has its own issues.

HTTPS downloads are slow. And there appears to be some issues of browsing while downloading too.

Meanwhile us business uncapped sit with s****y internet.

Not sure if you've read through the update I posted earlier from our network guys? It should cover everything on how we're moving forward.

We're setting up 3 points of presence, matching what we currently have so latency will normalise. So will the experience.
