Attention Cape Town Users!

We need a second of your time please, can I ask that you quickly run a speedtest on speedtest.net or saix.net from a Cape Town server and post the results on this Thread.

It will be greatly appreciated!

Guessing they have been cut over :-)

16.04mbps - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4758414403
Not quite up to what I was used to before but okay all the same.
Used to hit 17mbps prior to issues.

speedtest.vudu.com - US video streaming
13.83 down; 1.38up
10.97 down; 1.32up
11.19 down; 1.35up
Erratic. Not quite up to what I was used to before but okay for now.
Used to hit 15mbps prior to issues.

Have been having an issue with Microsoft Skype for Business (Formally Lync).
Lots of disconnects and poor audio.
Coincided with the latency on Hop 3.
Have logged it - awaiting feedback from Gary.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Twitch dead for me ... but the buffering every couple of min @ high setting really makes it annoying to use ... YT @ 1080p feels pretty ok

International live-streaming has always been abysmal for me. Doesn't matter which streaming service it is. YouTube runs very well, however.

That definitely shouldn't be the case... Which services have you tried out?

Well done Afrihost, it looks like the new network is going to be what everyone expects from their ISP. :)

Can you do an international tracert ? Seems mine goes to Cape town first then to Joburg , back to CPT and then swims with the fishes all the way to London.

International latency is also faster by more than 30ms. :)

from what i can see, they peer with their upstream provider in JHB... - so traffic will go from CPT to JHB into their upstream's network, who then sends it back to CPT to send out through whatever cable they're using....
