Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Maybe something to do with geo-IP stuff. I know we ran some changes around that earlier though.

Yeah it's obviously able to connect to the R* servers as the game authenticates to start just not to the online cloud servers.

Ok just tried again and it seems to be working :)

@AfriGuy
Apparently high usage users have been moved to the AfriGreen POC, can we have some clarification on how your clients were chosen to be on the POC

I think a few guys have already mentioned they aren't heavy users and have been moved over.
It's a random process.

Ah cool! There was some geo-IP stuff that was updated, maybe that's what fixed it.

I can get to this site BUT i am on a AfriGreen connected to a Proxy and it works.

Also speeds have been ok but not great. The old network had better performance.

Please publish some tests, similar to the example on the first page.
We're still running a heap of tweaks, you need to remember that this network is very new so it does need some time to "break in".

I have long ago already on Page 2.

What happens to any Afrihost Plus+ Benefits linked to the Afrihost old network MTN ADSL accounts, such as softcap and double data topups etc, when the AfriGreen account becomes active?

Are these transferred to the AfriGreen account or no longer applicable?

What happens to Afrihost Plus+ benefits on these POC networks?

Since about 13:30 speeds deteriorated, now fluctuating between 60% and 80% of line speed. Browsing also bad, images take long to load. Facebook slow. Flickr very slow. Streaming stuffed. Youtube not playing, getting about 10KB/s on Youtube, dial-up like, LOL.

That's odd :(
I know some changes have been made, none (at least that I'm aware of) that affect performance directly.

Could you reboot the router just to test though?

Anoyone else's YouTube pitifully slow? Also, download speeds are 25% my line speed. I have sent feedback via the clientzone.

+1 Ah good question. I never thought about that.

Those benefits havent' been allocated over. The network and shaping setup is at a minimum for now. Your account is replicated though, so you should have the same amount of data to use.

Stuff like Afrihost Plus and other promo goodies will be implemented when the final cut over happens.

I think we're running some testing/ tweaking on YouTube at the moment.
Keep trying :)

Done that, no difference for Youtube. Will check it again later tonight.

Edit: Just to add, same when I switch to the free 1Gig account.

Google images full line speed, Flickr very slow, Bing about 1/2 line speed. Some sites slow, others fast. Seems like some overseas sites slow.

carbonite.co.za also not working for me on the afrigreen account. Am on a business 4Mbps uncapped account

So, until the AfrihostPlus+ benefits are allocated over they are not applicable to these AfriGreen accounts?

"2-for-1 Topups - Select a Mobile or DSL Account to enable permanent 2–for–1 Data Topups at any given point in the month."
"DSL Soft Capping - Select a Capped DSL Account on which your connection will be rate-limited instead of cut off when you reach your Data Cap."
"Double Turbo Charges - Select an Uncapped DSL Account on which you'll receive twice as many Turbo Charge minutes each month."

Thus, capped accounts with Afrihost++ on the AfriGreen POC will lose these benefits when capped (no shaping here even tho' it "is at a minimum for now" ) and the same for uncapped Afri++ benefits.

Will Afrihost still charge for Afrihost++ then if these benefits are not available for POC migrated accounts?

Thanks, keep me posted on how things go this evening.

I can confirm the topups for you, PM me your DSL username and I can check.
From what I understand though, the test accounts are just test accounts - it's data available on the network. Your @afrihost DSL account should still be active if you want to use those benefits.
