Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

So I have tried the new network using the 1GB capped account.

HTTP downloads seem good both multi threaded and single thread.
Ping in general to anywhere seems 20ms to 30ms higher then other ISPs.

Only down fall is Twitch does not work at all.
The throughput spikes as you start a stream and then gradually declines till it hits the 50KB/s +/-.
This is over a 30 second period.

So all in all, looking good.
But Twitch needs to be fixed.

I can confirm the Twitch issue as above...

twitch.jpg

Slowly degrades and then dies.

Ok, much much better this morning, on a 20mbps ADSL line.
Testing on and off, still using my MTN Accounts for now until the POC can hold steady....

YouTube = Perfect
Torrents = Full Line Speed
Latency is perfect at 17-28ms to most servers in SA, even though I am routing through JHB IPC.

More testing:

Http downloading from mightyupload.com, movreel.com, 180upload.com, etc not getting full download speed but much better than before. Averaging around 300kbps.

Also able to stream youtube at 1080p which is fantastic improvement.

Will keep testing through the day.

Are those services not throttled from the server side? As I am guessing you need a paid for account to get higher speeds.

No they're not throttled. Use to get full speeds from those sites when Afrihost was at peak form.

Edit* And get full speed when I download using my web africa account.

Twitch is definitely broken .. Cannot stream on medium ...

Not sure what you guys are doing to be able to get 1080p on YT, I have a 10mbps business account and cannot get 720p without buffering

Just another report back ...

Kid just played a couple of hours of Destiny on the XBox... all fine, zero issues and no disconnect rage eruptions (unlike previous weeks).

Still looking good AfriPeeps.

/just please try and keep it thus.

Awesome :D

Any reason why the CZ for my AG account shows 2 active connections on the same number?

Chances are it's a connection that hasn't been marked off as closed yet.
If it's still there in an hour or so drop me a PM with the username and I can check it out :)

It happens when your IP changes. They are constantly fiddling with the network. I have seen them force a change of my IP at exactly 13:00:00 on several days last week.

Holy moly, that's rocking!
Can you drop a traceroute in here so I can have a look at the routing?

I am the only person on the line, separated for testing
