Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Weird to see so many complaints. Afrigreen is working fine for me. Downloaded a few things today at line speed (1MB/s on 8Mbit connection) and Youtube is streaming fine.

Maybe business users are on a much better shaping profile?

Capped accounts shouldn't be on any shaping profile.

Still no hiccups for me. Speed tests to Cape Town is a bit slower than usual.

Things in CPT aren't great. Speeds are low. Latency is spiking but there's no packet loss.
Latency is spiking often. www.afrihost.com goes from 33ms to 150ms.

EDIT: YouTube is still stuffed. Maxing out at 3mbps on Chrome and struggling on Edge at 1.4mbps.

Yeah I've tried switching between both accounts and neither is remotely decent, I have no idea how you roll out changes on a friday and eh we will see what happens by monday. It really isn't good enough.

What is truly surprising is how speedtest is reporting full speed, latency for the most part looks good. But try and do anything real and its utter ****, youtube at 144p mybb takes 30s to load a page.

Afrihost, your Afrigreen sucks.
Although I applied to test the Afrigreen network I did not actually do so, was tied up else where and remained on the afrihost account.
A few days ago I received an email from you saying you give me an extra 100 gigs which I saw was great but it said its on the Afrigreen network.
So I set my modem username to afrigreen and logged on.
Well, well, well.... I have never in all the time I've been with you had such a bad Internet connection, even mybroadband took forever to come in.
I sat on the whole day and never once did it improve, it is so so slow it is quite unbelievable.
To night I switched back to the afrihost.co.za account and all was better again.

Things still working great my side. Can't understand why my experience differs so much from many people in this thread.

Afrihost vs Afrigreen tonight in Cape Town - tests taken 4 minutes apart (otherwise exact same settings on router)
Note the very high latency on Afrigreen, note the UPload speeds of both networks is near-identical, but Afrigreen has worse download speeds than Afrihost.

Streaming Netflix over Chromecast has gone without any buffering from 21:30 tonight on Afrihost, but going over to the Afrigreen network caused immediate, and continuous, buffering.

Yeah whatever "tweaks" they did on friday afternoon screwed the pooch in a big way, mines been crap since then.

I've been told multiple times by AH that there is a huge problem with our exchange here in CPT

Not sure about exchange in CPT but I'm in JHB and I'm having massive issues with Afrigreen yesterday and today too.

Whatever changes they made clearly didn't work as they expected. It's made things worse this weekend.

Overall I've been happy with Afrigreen but when speeds are bad, it's really bad.

Thing is even if there were capacity problems at CINX we aren't routing through as Afrihost don't have IPC in the cape for AfriGreen.

Also changing to another ISP resolves the issues meaning the finger is pointed squarely at Afrihost not at any 3rd party's infrastructure.

It would be interesting to compare a trace route from a connection struggling on Afrigreen with the one I posted above.
