I have nothing negative to report on the POC network for the past 3 or 4 days. This is in Pretoria on a 2MB line.

Afrigreen network tonight: good download speed (high ping because it is in Cape Town):

Last Result:
Download Speed: 4861 kbps (607.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 525 kbps (65.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 68 ms
15/08/2015, 23:52:15

As a comparison: the regular Afrihost network (roughly the same speed but much lower ping):

Last Result:
Download Speed: 4820 kbps (602.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 524 kbps (65.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 26 ms
16/08/2015, 00:02:50

...and thirdly: Incredible Connection 4 Mbps uncapped (they use Internet Solutions' backbone):

Last Result:
Download Speed: 4768 kbps (596 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 481 kbps (60.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 26 ms
15/08/2015, 23:38:19

I don't want to jinx it, but AfriGreen performance has been great since Friday.

I rarely used to get above 1mbps on Sunday morning...

10Mb line, steady sync at 6.5 mbps. Near perfect speedtest considering...

Working fine earlier today. Gone to pot again. Downloading gone from averaging 700-800kbps to 100kbps

Can't even stream on a low quality pixelated Flash stream.

Utterly ****e this evening. Slow torrents, audio streaming drops, international slow, YouTube in glorious 240P.

Having the opposite. Good torrent speeds (about 800KB/s) while gaming and skype.

Absolute rubbish for me again this afternoon.

^^ This.

Titsup for me this evening.

EDIT:

Okay... seems to be improving now... hopefully it recovers quickly.

Problem with this is that by the time things improve all the live streaming you want to do you can't and end up missing out.

Also acceptable speeds here in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs, with Afrigreen performing even better than regular Afrihost - usually it is the other way around on my line:

176ms to Cape Town speed test server on Afrigreen. Getting boring.
Not far from Stellenbosch and now getting around 8.6Mbps on 10Mbps line to CPT with latency about 60ms. Strangely am getting almost identical speeds to JHB with 40ms. This contrasts with speeds during day when I was getting less than 3.5Mbps with latency over 100.
I am very happy at the moment but just wish that things could be consistently like they are right now.

And backup to full speed this end.
I am guessing Afrihost are testing their contention system.
So latency is not affected when nearing saturation on the IPC.

Still no sign of AfriBlue, so this whole beta testing could take a while it seems....

That looks a little off. We expect a little extra latency from Cape Town to Cape Town, becuase of not having local IPC, but not that much.

Can you post a traceroute for this?

That's definitely the idea, but I think being in the proof of concept stage, some changes, testing and funnies are not unusual. We'd rather identify problems now than later down the line when we have all our clients on the network.
