Without wanting to jinx it... things down in CPT have been pretty good over the past two weeks.
Whatever was fixed on the YouTube streaming issue resolved all the other issues for me.
Line has been running close to max linespeed for local. Intl is okay. Not superb but a darn sight better than the past months. I'd say AfriGreen is a success when Intl jumps to 15/16mbps (have a 20mbps line). Current is 11/12mbps.
Anyway... two weeks and pretty stable. Holding thumbs things remain the same.

Once again it's the evening and the internet is all kinds of weird. Slow loading and if it does load quickly then half the page isn't downloaded properly. I have no clue how to test something like this since every time I post about this, speedtests and traceroutes are always normal. Just before I posted this my sister even mentioned how the internet is weird again on her iPad and acknowledged it happens only at night.

It seems very random. Sites will load properly and then when going back a few minutes later they just won't work correctly and vice-versa. Very erratic.

Issues like this below. They didn't slowly load in or anything, it's like the connection just stopped for the pages. All pages were checked in MS Edge and portable FireFox (v. 41.0) as well with the same issue. I downloaded portable Firefox as I type this comment with these issues and it downloaded at full speed. After I finished downloading that file, I reloaded the sites in those images and they all laoded fine. See how erratic this is...I reloaded those sites a few times before posting this comment and they wouldn't load properly but after the download they now do...

Get the exact same thing.

Least I know it's not my problem as others are having it too.

So I use a vpn for privacy. Using the vpn on AfriGreen I can only get 30 KB/s on p2p and my YT downloader. Speedtests on AfriGreen showing 3.3 mbps.
Switched to AfriRed and am now getting 370 KB/s on p2p and 400 KB/s on the YT downloader.
So yes - definitely something up with AfriGreen tonight.

Still no joy in any online gaming during evenings. Support suggested going back to the original account. That was even worse.

Had to use a different ISP to get anything done

I wonder. The 18H00 bug. For some reason I had a 133kb/s upload on my line last night. The only thing online was my DVD Player and the NUC running Windows 10. And just weird that every night at 18H00 things go AH...

I am going to try to kill all services for Updates to the network. I have killed the Updates to the world, so will test tonight to see if I get the dreaded 18H00 slowdown.

After a laggy morning things have settled down

Glad things normalised for you the other day, not the best results here though :(
Did you manage to test your regular account to see if things were any better there?

Can someone see if AH is screwing the uncapped business account guys again...

https://torrent.fedoraproject.org/torrents/Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-22.torrent

I need this to set up a fedora server as a squid system, but now I can't seem to get a speed faster than 20kb/s and avg speed of less than 5kb/s

I can download the files via ftp at 150 kb/s. But I download a bit, then the connection drops and I have to start from scratch again.

Thanks. So AH is screwing around again. Pay for an un shaped account and not getting that service even though they claim that being so.

Hi Francois

I'd really like to move forward in getting things fixed here for you. I do need to make it very clear that no one is "screwing" anyone here, we aren't out to get anyone. So let's try and drop that please, and work together, in a civil manner in seeing where the issues are creeping in for you.

Latency seems to be fine for you, yet I see you mention throughput drops drastically for you in the evenings. This can be a number of things.
Please PM me your account info, and further test results this evening. Troubleshooting via PM will make things easier, so we don't have to track multiple posts across multiple pages.

Thanks.

Streaming has been an issue today, news websites with video's and similar "websites" don't want to load

Hi :)

Haven't seen any general issues around this, watched a few YouTube vids and some Twitch yesterday afternoon and was pretty smooth for me. What's your latency been like?

Not sure if anyone else has this issues but Facebook and Twitter always seem to have a problem. Whether I'm downloading something or not. Right now, takes ages to load sometimes and images don't load either.

tracert, speed test all appear to be normal.

That's very odd. Do you just see degradation on FB and Twitter?

Something is definitely up.

Download Speed: 3247 kbps (405.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 422 kbps (52.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 38 ms
Sun Sep 27 2015 18:57:27 GMT+0200 (SAST)

P2p sitting at 30 KB/s - was going nicely at 330 KB/s until just after 6pm.

On Business Uncapped.

Hi

Have you tested your regular account, or a backup ISP?
The last PM convo we had it was determined the exchange was congested/ degraded causing throughput issues.

That is pretty odd. I know I saw this on some sites in the very early tests of Afrigreen.
What DNS servers are you using at the moment?

Sorry to hear :(
What games are you seeing issues on?

YouTube was fine, but Facebook, Twitter, etc battled to load their pages and refused to load videos. Latency and throughput was fine when doing speed tests. I only posted after noticing a trend amongst others reporting the same issues last night

Hhhmm, I do know that our Facebook timeline was pretty busy. I'll chat to our guys and see if I can spot any trends here.
Is the problem still there for you this morning?

You cannot blame everything on the exchange.
No offence I am sick amd tired of you guys just blaming the exchange without even trying to help me see if something else is going wrong.
Yes I did change to AfriRed and it performed very well. Was getting 400 KB/s plus on p2p, YT streamed at 720p no problem and google playstore updates ran flawlessly.
So it was not my exchange this time causing the problem. AfriRed is still going strong this morning so don't come with "oh your port might have been reset when switching over".
So stop just using my exchange as the excuse for everything. I can't wait until my exchange is sorted then you can't blame it for everything anymore.

Dianysis, we've had this chat so often via PM though. And every time we run in depth tests here you mention that the exchange has been on the brink. Multiple faults have been logged for you. Even if there is a small amount of degradation or congestion - it'll cause issues, and as I've said before, it's not realistic to expect stable throughput until Telkom fixes those issues.

We also discussed via PM that changing accounts can reset the port and temporarily ease degradation/ congestion. If you stick to one account for a few days you'll always see the same issues.

Well my AfriGreen account was running pretty well for quite a few days up until just after 6 pm last night.
It is funny how when people are here complaining about performance I am also battling - must be conincidence.
It's fine - if all goes according to plan my exchange should be upgraded before the end of the year and then the exchange cannot be blamed for everything anymore.

I'm happy to test, but from our previous discussions it always comes back to the exchange. It's really hard to see where issues come in when known issues in the area.
