Mostly Blizzard Games, Diablo and WOW

Diablo running at average 1000ms per session. Running on another ISP at 210ms.

Woah, 1000ms is far too high.
Are you able to complete a few traceroutes to servers you're seeing issues with?

I'm happy to test, but from our previous discussions it always comes back to the exchange. It's really hard to see where issues come in when known issues in the area.
Well let's get a question out the way:
My speedtest (shown last night) showed 3.2 mbps - how can speedtest be awesome but performance crap?
Also performance to local sites and downloads were good last night but international was crap - ie as soon as I connected to vpn routing through uk then performance died.
Switched to AfriRed and all speeds were good. Even now it is going full speed routing through france.

Speedtests generally aren't very heavy as opposed to downloads. I think by adding a VPN into this equations only confuses things even more as routing will be completely different.

Hhhmm, I do know that our Facebook timeline was pretty busy. I'll chat to our guys and see if I can spot any trends here.
Is the problem still there for you this morning?

The trend was reported here, and involved social media and streaming sites, I haven't tried yet today, but will do so when I'm home

That's very odd. Do you just see degradation on FB and Twitter?

Mainly with those two but other social network sites too like linkedin.

Streaming also has it's ups and downs. As couple others have mentioned as well.

Any tests that I can take a look at, maybe some pings to the sites you're seeing issues on?
Just tested a few videos over on Facebook and it's loading up OK for me.

Whenever I do traceroutes. It all appears to be fine.

Issue is very random. Initially I thought maybe it was something wrong on my side but others having the same problem suggests it's not just me.

Videos on facebook are generally fine. It's the images on facebook, twitter etc that don't load up.

These two posts from two pages back showing the same problem I'm having. Seems to be only in Joburg.

In Joburg is seems to be file downloads are okay but real time services such as streaming and social media are dieing out tonight. However these problems have been around before now, they're just very bad tonight

and

Once again it's the evening and the internet is all kinds of weird. Slow loading and if it does load quickly then half the page isn't downloaded properly. I have no clue how to test something like this since every time I post about this, speedtests and traceroutes are always normal. Just before I posted this my sister even mentioned how the internet is weird again on her iPad and acknowledged it happens only at night.

It seems very random. Sites will load properly and then when going back a few minutes later they just won't work correctly and vice-versa. Very erratic.

Issues like this below. They didn't slowly load in or anything, it's like the connection just stopped for the pages. All pages were checked in MS Edge and portable FireFox (v. 41.0) as well with the same issue. I downloaded portable Firefox as I type this comment with these issues and it downloaded at full speed. After I finished downloading that file, I reloaded the sites in those images and they all laoded fine. See how erratic this is...I reloaded those sites a few times before posting this comment and they wouldn't load properly but after the download they now do...

I'll chat to the guys in the office, but I haven't heard anything reported around this.
What browser and DNS are you currently using?

I don't think many would report it since it's a minor issue that gets fixed by refreshing but it can become frustrating.

I'm using chrome but it's same on firefox and using DNS automatically.

BTW have you guys looked into that P2P issue? I think Afrifella picked it up late Friday night. He was trying to get my free 1gb account over onto afrigreen but couldn't find my username. Should I wait for this evening when he gets on?

Could you try and set Google's DNS to see if this helps things along at all?

I'm personally not aware of any P2P issues. AfriFella is around, so if there's a PM history he'll reply :)

Yeah P2P was dead for about 3-4 days starting on Wednesday last week. Just tried the account again and P2P seems to be fixed, finally. Thanks.

Before 18:00 test. I'll do another after.
