Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Every evening the same crap, then the reps appear I the morning and all their test show no errors. No one seems to want to admit there are serious issues with Afrihost, the odd thing is AfriGreen used to be fast, their network specialist have obviously messed things up again, or they are over subscribed. My speed tests show no errors, but I cant even log onto my twitter account, emails wont download, its pathetic.

I have to confess this is fast becoming a major sticking point for me too. Weekend goes by and we've been sitting with ****ty access since the techs implemented their Friday changes. Reps come on and you are basically told its only isolated to you / your exchange.

I'm very concerned over the pending announcement of us being cut from Afrired as at the moment I'm switching between accounts on a regular basis to try and keep a semblance of decent internet.

Truly sorry I didn't jump at one of the Vox promo's. Now I guess we wait for tomorrow morning to be told its not us... its you.

I think this time they know it's their problem but yeah is a consistent issue where poor performances are only at night or during the weekends.

Strange how the service runs smoothly during the day, but as soon as it hits 7/8PM then it all goes for a ball of shait. Then, of course, there is nobody online who can help or have a look. Next morning when you run tracerts or pingtests then all is back to normal.

Very frustrating!

Morning All

Just posting a general message here cos I can see that pretty much everyone posted along similar lines.

P2P was pretty terrible for me last night. Tried multiple files, got very little to no throughput for most of the time. Latency seemed consistent, and I didn't pick up anything specifically on browsing, but did not test any streaming.

We reported the poor P2P performance from the night before, and the team are checking this out and testing from their side to see what could be behind this.

When I have some solid info to share, I'll post it up here (or one of the other afridudes will)

Everything international is still slow or times out. Local traffic is fine.
Facebook, Twitter, teamviewer, skype, p2p, sipgate, are all affected.
Either Afrigreen does not have enough international transit and its congested. Or your upstream provider is dodgy.

It's hard to say what else could have been affected, depends on what the root cause is. I didn't pick up errors on Facebook and Twitter myself (on Capped) but will report that as well to the team :(

It takes ages for a page to load on Facebook, switch to Mweb account and its instant. People have been complaining since last weekend that Facebook is slow on AfriGreen?

I'm not experiencing that, and remember that Facebook was also down several times in that period. But I'll do some more tests tonight as well.

I find these types of responses unacceptable, many users of your network have reported similar issues, so its not exchange, location, equipment related, its your network, but AfriReps seem to have no issue and therefore your service is performing as expected. We pay a fortune for a service that is not working, how much longer do your network team have to tweak and mess about with settings. Why do other ISPs just work, I have been a long time Afrihost client (yes I know I like to get irritated every month), but you are always tweaking and nothing improves.

I don't think we're tweaking anything to do with Facebook, so we'll need to see what could have changed. But remember this is a POC network. Before we move into production, we want to have simulated a host of possible scenarios so that we can test our contingency plans and replicated any possible setbacks that could come up. So there is the potential for things not to go as planned before we finalise the policies and move into the production phase of the network.

Consistently bad. For the last two nights latency has been very bad for any gaming from 8-11pm. Swapping to another provider resolves the issue.

We discussed something similar yesterday though?

Your normal network has the same issues, and has had them for months. It has something to do with the way you are managing data usage.

I don't have a date at the moment, but I believe we're already moving in that direction since it looks like AfriGreen is here to stay. Hopefully it will be quick. As soon as I have any info on that, I will share.

So Afriman can you confirm that Afrigreen will be the POC going forward?

Did you know that your business account is being shaped...
And AH please don't bull shyte me anymore.

Here is your response:
Please be advised that P2P traffic is being managed when there is demand on the Afrigreen network. Management of the P2P traffic will automatically apply as demand increases on the network, as well as, be removed as demand decreases. Currently we are managing P2P traffic as we test the Bandwidth management system.

I hope this information serves you well :)

Warm Regards,
Gary

So in other words, my business account that should not be shaped at all is being shaped to hell!

So another to the user!

Francois, I was under the impression we were running some tests via PM?
While I fully understand you're frustrated, I need to ask again that we work toward a resolution together, in a civil manner please.

I too am seeing poor results with torrents specifically this morning - our network team are looking at it.
