Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Interestingly enough my speedtests all come back with 7.8Mb/s speeds but my steam and p2p downloads are almost non existant, right now I am getting 5 - 20kb/s with my 8Mb account, is there anyway to find out if there are issues on the Clareinch exchange in Cape Town, my friend across the road has the same account and the same issues.

I logged in again after years to just say I'm having exactly the same problem. Basically I can browse youtube and such fine, and my speedtest results are good, but god forbid I try use steam or join an online game server. All local servers are either timing out completely or average about 1600ms.

Second night in a row this has happened on Afrigreen. Also in CT.

Afriguy, why does it seem like the business guys are getting the ****ty end of the stick along with home uncapped?

The prevailing impression that we've gotten (or at least mine) is that the capped accounts seem unaffected right now.

To be honest the news of you moving green to production could not have come at a worse time. As it currently stands I'm ping-ponging around from green to red to try and get a lower lag experience / higher download speed etc (not just the last few days when its gotten really bad but for the last few weeks).

If green has reached capacity and red clearly hasn't had work done to it so is in the same state as it was pre-green perhaps you should have limited people joining so to preserve the available capacity (or even un-enrol the newest users).

Yes I realize it is a POC and is designed for testing BUT I think I'm not the only one here that has to resort to it as a matter of necessity to get the internet experience we have continued to pay for on Red.

To be brutally honest if we need to sit through another month of Meh I'm not sure I want to stay a customer. I'm a firm believer in brand loyalty but it is getting a little tough to keep that loyalty when your saving grace seems to still have so many problems.

PS Tickets still haven't been replied to even after escalating through you.

Not sure if you've read through the update I posted earlier from our network guys? It should cover everything on how we're moving forward.

We're setting up 3 points of presence, matching what we currently have so latency will normalise. So will the experience.

Hmm, how you are moving forward, but not on how I can. I'm sitting here trying to do ANYTHING, latency to my Minecraft server is sitting at over 1000ms in-game yet traceroute is peachy.

Try to login to icloud just hangs. Yes you guys are "transitioning" this month but that means nothing when I can't get what I'm paying for now, I can't afford to go buy access elsewhere to tide me through your transition.

Also smooth move glossing over my comment on Tickets not being responded too on long standing issues relating to Green. Think some have been outstanding for almost a week now despite assurances of follow-ups early in the week.

You are really not living up to your moniker Afrihost - Poor internet joy.

New signups should not have been taken onboard if the network was this close to its physical capacity as anybody that sat through one of your IPC capacity upgrades would attest to.

With both Red and Green clearly failing to perform... To be honest I'm at a loss for words. Yet again we are in a situation that should never have been allowed to manifest. With the IPC capacity problems Telkom was the scapegoat, they weren't working fast enough to give the increases you ordered. This time there is no one to look at but Afrihost management.

Honestly don't know why I'm even bothering typing this. But what the hell its not like I can stream / download / browse.

Yes you guys are "transitioning" this month but that means nothing when I can't get what I'm paying for now, I can't afford to go buy access elsewhere to tide me through your transition.

I agree with this sentiment the most, how the hell can we get service from another ISP when ours if clearly failing if you keep billing us full price for a network that runs like ass

I'm not seeing any reports of network issues or outages around Clareinch at the moment. I do know that Exchange has been problematic at times but this is probably the Afrigreen account affecting your downloads.

How is your streaming?

I can understand your frustration at this point, I've been without ADSL for more than a week and I'm close to climbing up the walls at home.

Our Team is working pretty much round the clock to the deployment of the production Afrigreen up and running, with the hardware already being put in place, there is a definite timeline and ETA for the activation of the full Afrigreen network.

Do you perhaps know when it will be up and running?

Do you perhaps know when it will be up and running?

We'll be sending out a mail to all our Clients next week with an update on the next step and timing involved, but the production implementation will be very soon. I don't want to give an exact date until I receive confirmation from the Powers that Be, but the PoC will be coming to an end before too long.

internet is down the crapper again on both ah accounts and as usual it is happening between 6-11pm well done

I've been complaining about this issue months ago but AH employees brushed it off... good to see it's actually affecting more than one customer now...

tired of complaining and getting 0 result

Right now I cannot access Origin, Gmail or any torrents - when fibre opens up in my area I'm going have to say good riddance to this.

Perhaps we should have a loadshedding schedule, we can each use afrigreen for 30 min then hand over to the next :(
