Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Is the switchover to the new production network happening tomorrow?

Definitely happening very soon. Right now we're waiting for some final confirmations to go live, which could come at any minute. From there we'll decide when is the best time to flip the switch so we have a little disruption (if any) to users on the network.

Afrihost Business uncapped and Afrigreen both performing poor tonight.

Hopefully tomorrow if new network is up things will be different.

I definitely expect a smoother experience on the new production network. It should consistently perform at the same levels we saw when Afrigreen performed at optimum :)

I've been seeing pings of upward of 200 on AG, hopefully this will improve when the new network is rolled out ;)

That's no good if you're talking about a local server. We should definitely see better overall latency on the production network with local IPC in all 3 regions as we've always had :)

I'll check with him again, but if there are multiple Igors floating around, maybe email is going to be better. Can you drop me your email address by PM so I can ask him to email you directly?

PM sent and thx for assisting ;)

P2P is terrible at the moment (on BOTH AfriGreen and AH Business).... why is there so much shaping?
...and don't say there is no shaping, as ALL other protocols seem fine (except SSH, that also sucks).

Afrihost has high ping today, 200ms local, while Afrigreen can be seen spiking(70-150ms local) with a side of packet loss again. I would like to mention that normal afrihost works for me almost flawlessly after 5 at night (Being on a business account I find it kind of weird.) yet Afrigreen has problems all through the day.

Seriously guys Afrigreen is not getting better it's getting worse, if you switchover and my performance is still this horrible on Afrigreen I'm going to be extremely annoyed with waiting and PAYING for MONTHS so that I can get something that performs worse than what I originally had.

The focus on AfriGreen is preparing for the migration from the POC network to the full production network. I think any performance issues being investigated will only delay the migration, which is ultimately the better solution to getting the best experience for AfriGreen users and the rest of our ADSL clients. We're hoping that we can go live shortly, so please be patient as we work on the transfer.

All regular Afrihost accounts should be working now if you want to switch over if you feel that offers a better experience.

...but that's the point... the AH Business account is even worse... I have an HTTP download that has timed out TWICE and had to be restarted (single file of 1.6GB), not to mention that it is only running at 300KB/s on a 10MB line.

...and before you mention it, NO... it is not the source, I have the same happening with ALL international websites. This is on top of the extremely high latency to local AND international servers. YET, speed tests appear normal. There appear to be serious spikes from hop4 onwards.... this is happenning on BOTH AfriGreen and AH Business.

Since roughly Monday, any PPTP VPN use is impossible, OpenVPN seemed to be okay though....

EDIT: After power cycling the router they seem to be holding up okay :) will post if they deteriorate again
