Afrihost - Prepaid

Has anyone had a hassle with Afrihost prepaid - I purchased a monthly contract to which I received the detail immediately. In addition for this month the prepaid, for which I am struggling to get my access detail. Either there is some confusion or something else.

I didn't quite follow your post. Very confusing.
Anyway, have you sent through a copy of your ID book?

Yep sent thru, my ID, got my monthly activated. Signed up for prepaid as well, they deducted from my bank account and emailed me to say my DSL login for prepaid was to follow, but it didn't. I have been emailing them since last night for this, but still don't have it.

So you have two separate accounts? One month-to-month and another prepaid just for December? I suggest you give support a call. Quote the ticket numbers from the emails and they should sort it out in no time. The problem with email support is the ticket is closed as soon as someone replies.

I bought some Afrihost prepaid. I had no hassles. But then I have a hosting account with them already, so it was activated almost instantly.

But I did not have to phone them in order to get my contract activated. So why then is prepaid different - or is it not so lucrative for them to deal with prepaid queries as well as they do contracts. Don't get me wrong, I need the access so I will probably phone them, but it's the principle of the matter..

Yes, it's a conspiracy. They try to cause as many problems with prepaid as possible so more people will pay the cheaper price for month to month. Make a tinfoil hat as soon as possible:rolleyes::rolleyes:

You kinda explained this in your OP: there is probably some confusion!

Had the same problem (well my first problem anyways, next one was this). The email did not come through to the created afrihost email address. They changed it to my personal email address and i received the details immediately after.

I'm sorted now, just cannot log in to the client zone for some reason.. PM'd Moshe for help

Your clientzone details are different to your ADSL details. If it directs to a blank page, it means there was a username or password error. I know, they should change that

Well, when I called just now, and asked for verification of my prepaid password he said he woulld email it thru to me. Still no email. They have my personal email address as I have reminded them of it constantly as well as emailed then about a hundred times from it. PS. R29 x 24 is greater than R39 x 1

you sure they have the correct email address, did you check the spelling with them ?

Ah ok they changed my email address. My new one works. Thanks.

Definitely should change that.

Just called again. Email address that was corrected before - was still not correct. When I gave him the correct one and asked him to repeat it to me, he still did it incorrectly. I am still not sure if he corrected it - as based on all this - I am not sure they can get anything right. Is there a responsible person in the call centre that I can email who will sort this out for once and for all?

if it some weird and wonderful name you are using with confusable characters known to cause confusion like h or a it will take little extra effort to speak clearly and make sure the other person gets it right; this will always be the case regardless of who you phone and what you preconceptions you have build up.

i would suggest you try Gian's email:
[email protected], or else phone in and demand the manager :)
 
your login name (email address ) for the client zone is the one u used when you registered, not the same as the router password+username... i made that mistake when i first started.
otherwise i had no problems with Afrihost..very quick to activate my account over the weekend..took less than an hr from application to surfing the net.
also top ups were painless..just as advertised!
