Do yourself a favor and move your server to another provider.

We have had endless issues and they don't give a cr@p.

I am busy looking into moving all our servers and ADSL accounts away from them.

So they will lose 9 K per month but not that they care.

It's sad really I mean everyone on this forum knows I love them, but well this is the issue with most ISP, I understand issues arise and stuff goes wrong I'm not unreasonable, but I would've loved a little more transparency and not a copy paste response when I query it.

I don't know ey? I have only had good service with them compared to the utter disgust I had with Mweb two years ago.

Dont get me wrong everyone here knows I'm not a went to Afrihost only been with Afrihost guy. I really do have my fare share and ag I don't know I've always had better ADSL experience with them and their clientzone is s nice feature when managing a lot of sites and connections etc, so gradually began to shift my hosting over to them was happy until 3 weeks ago....

Luckily our Dedicated and Rackmound servers are running farely smoothly, but share hosting.....

Unfortunately I cant say much positive atm, im not here to say it's bad I mean every ISP has downtime somewhere in time thats fine, my issue is I'd like a human response and reason when it happens.

Not at all, my point just was that I have been and still are with a variety of ISP's and generally I preferred Afrihost.

The problem is just that. They've become an ISP. They used to only do Hosting, and do it well (apparently). Now they're a full fledged ISP and they forgot their core business and how they got to where they are now.

Move to someone like elitehost.co.za, best service I've ever had and they don't **** around with providing you with ADSL or mobile data too, they know their strengths are with hosting, and does it very very well.

Jack of all Trades, Master of None. That describes any ISP providing you with more than just an internet connection (email, hosting etc)

If you want a delicious steak, go to a steakhouse, not a pizza place offering steaks on their menu too.

Yeah, that makes sense. I have not worked for an ISP directly before, but form what I've seen working with ISP who are/were clients, it's a very different business to hosting.

That's not necessarily true. There are ISPs who provide hosting services that do well in both. Just not in SA, as far as I know :) The issue is, hosting requires competence in different areas to ISP stuff. Working for a big hosting company, I've met very few techs who I'm confident will perform well in both areas. Techs hired out of ISPs usually require a fair bit of training to get them comfortable with the stuff we do, at the scale we do.

Now that I do agree with.

Mmmmm elitehost looks very promising....

Is that really unlimited sql databases for R35/pm

I might move my forum over to them depending if afrihost can contact me with a detailed description of what caused those issues. And still do.

It's a principal thing for me really.
