Afrihost-Slow Speeds?

Yeah see i honestly think they targeting 4mb users here... unless you okes have downloaded their 'cap' as i like to call it.

My 4meg uncapped line is still going full speed, no problem on p2p or http downloads :)

Downloads for the month sitting on 25GB.
 
getting useless speeds on torrents, under 20kbps on a 4mb line, other protocols fare better though

i agree with that - im dl'd about 12 gigs so far but since the beginning of the month ive been experiencing very unstable speeds. during office hours my download speeds are lower than my friend's and he is on the afrihost 512 uncapped package. ive done a couple speed tests to london in the last hour and i get results of between 0.3mb/s and 1.3mb/s with a ping of over 900. Having said that, youtube seems to work ok and afterhour certain http download speeds are good if they are threaded like crazy. It just seems silly that it has become a rare occassion that i actually feel like im on a 4meg line. If i already know they are going to throttle me at 50 gigs it would be nice to get those first 50 hassle free.

+1, i thought the point of the throttling was to offset the fact that you would get full line speed with little shaping, since changing to 4mb uncapped from 384 my torrents have slowed down!! there really is no positive reason to be with afrihost
 
I have downloaded less than 5 gigs for the month so far and speeds on a 4MB line are shocking. Speedtest results to international servers are below 0.3mbps. Are any of the other IS uncapped resellers any better?
 
Youtube speeds always seem to be fine for me, how i wish the same speed could be implemented into my downloads. If u seen my previous messages on this thread, u could imagine how frustrating its becoming for me. After experiencing moderate speeds like around 160K/sec in the day and then speed dropping every single evening to around 30 to 60 K/sec, i decided to mail afrihost once again...after they told me to resync my line on 3 diff occasions, i finally did it today....the outcome....well my speed is worse than before...lol...now its up to 40K/sec max. I told telkom about it and they say they will send a technician over...the last guy who came through said there was nothing he could do...he just said my line is syncing correctly and maybe i needed to change somethin else....Im a bit over all this bullcrap as u can see.
 
atm the i get great latency on wow during the day after hours my latency shoots through the roof and the techs at afrihost cant give me a solid answer

even after a reboot which i had to do because i installed new video drivers.
 
I know things aren't stable with AH speeds atm, but it could be MWEB.LOL have you seen the bugger ups they are having? I'll stick to my 384 AH uncapped thanks.
 
Righ, so I have been looking at all the SpeedTest results everybody have posted, and I do see something very similar....
DL speed is around 3.5MB - that is about 12,5% slower than 4M, so not too bad.
UL speed is around 0.3MB - that is about 32,5% slower than 512k we supposed to get.

I am not a leech, but I use VPN to my server at home a lot and this slow UL speed is killing me:(

My line is syncing at full speed with no noise or drops. Did the Hellcom thing with the re-porting thing and still no joy.

Similar boat. Upload is killing my ratios. Fine download, but poor upload.
