Afrihost Slow Uncapped

We need some sort of official answer - is the slowness caused by the IS 'issues' or the your over 60GB so we'll throttle you issue.

Tick tock...tick tock....time is running out for them!

Definitely not IS - unless IS is working on Afrihost alone - because my Axxess account is fine.
 
How is the Axxess uncapped account? I know they are shaping during office hours, but to what extent?
 
So my line which was severely throttled has return back to normal business hrs performance.
Has any1 experienced the improvement?

Yes indeed, my speed is normal again... time will tell for how long.

hmm smells like IS a few years back, too much promise, too little deliverence.
 
Well it seems this isnt over because i am getting benchmark speeds of 4 kbs ...after 16 gigs yipee Afrihost uncapped rocks ...............NOT

Got this email this afternoon after I submitted a ticket titled "Extremely slow 384 uncapped" because on average I've been browsing/streaming/http downloading at 3-5kbps since the weekend.

I have taken a look at your account and see that you have been throttled your usage is now 19GB for the month.

I have posted a guide on a 4mbps line as to give a basic outline as to the reasons for throttling on accounts.

You can also visit our website and see uncapped FAQ's which will give you more definitive answers as to the reasons why we are throttling account and also particular thresholds on various speeds.

So they admitting to throttling before their so called 'untouched 30GB' policy? Plus I don't even have a 4mb line. Arrggh.
I've sent a email to have my account cancelled, this is unreal. I'm moving to MWeb.

It's 10GB or something stupid like that for a 384kbs circuit
 
The same thing is happening to me, done 17 Gbs and it's extremely extremely slow! Afrihost, are you guys serious? I can understand 30Gbs for 384 even but half? Honestly?
 
@ laraito....Afrihost gets their ADSL from IS, IS throttles 384 @ 15gigs......I think IS is coming under fire.

Network Notice
All IS-linked services will experience slow responses due to an upstream issue. ETR is unknown at present, but we will update this notification as soon as we have more information.
 
Could the Afrihost uncapped users please state what is "slow", what is your speeds like for:
http?
ftp?
Rapidshare?
Torrents?
News servers?

On my 512 Line:
1. HTTP works, but don't try to download something, the QoS Rules kick in and kill of all HTTP then...
2. FTP, local ftp.is was alright, but it was heavily shaped during the day... <=20kB/sec
3. Rapishare see point 1.
4. Torrents, worked better than Newshost, since news.is.co.za is the worst bullcrap server out there, but the ports were also subject to very heavy shaping.
5. See point 4.

I did 16GB.... and now my line is so slow, GMAIL has to load in basic html view.... now that's saying something...

I finally gave up, sent through my cancellation, and now I'm back to capped accounts.... life is bliss....

Not according to Afrihost. Unlike other ISPs who are just reselling the "IS basic uncapped" package, they have their own IS bandwidth pipe, and manage their own shaping and throttling. Although "mismanage" would be a more appropriate word.

my speeds bumped up to 30KBps last night again, luck or relaxed throttling?
