Afrihost still reseting everyday?

Really annoyed!! Was busy downloading ACE for ARMA II last night and link was disconnected at 400mb. So bye bye 1gig traffic just to download the file again. :mad::mad::mad:

Chances of credit is prob zero too! :(
 
To protect against stuff like this, what if your line got unplugged, or a problem on the DSLAM or a power failure? All good reasons to use download managers.

Afrihost still shouldn't reset though.
 
What he said.... always useful in case you need to shut down for a second, or something unexpected.

What the hell does that mean? Another fanboi response? Service delivery is already poor in SA and bandwidth very very expensive so I think that if they do something, unlawful BTW it seems also, that negatively impact the service I get I'm not being unfair if I complain.

And since I have never had a download failure in the past from all the other ISP's I was with, hence no need for freaken download managers, I feel I am right to expect the same from afrihost. For crying out loud, I downloaded ARMA II from Sprocket without a download manager in one go, 7.4GB worth of data via axxess!! How dare I expect the same from afrihost?!?!? What was I thinking?!?!?!? :eek::eek:
 
Your complaint is valid, I still think anyone should be using a download manager for various reasons, some of which I stated above.

Freedownloadmanager.org, try that if you will, it works well for me.
 
You would be doing yourself a big favour having a download manager.

No excuse for the reset though. Bad. Bad. Bad.
 
Not all servers allow you to resume your download. I guess nobody takes the regulations seriously. 24 hour reset is just stupid.
 
Another vote for Freedownloadmanager. I have done about 150gb this month already with freedownloadmanager, without any problems. And it has got a massive number of settings you can play with to customize your downloads, I like the fact that you can specify the times it should start downloading.

1. I have never and will never be an afrihost client
2. I use whatever ISP offers me the best solution for my needs.
3. It's one thing to complain, it's a whole different thing if you complain but are not willing to take a simple step to help protect yourself, if downloading and installing a free bit of software is too much effort than you have no business complaining
4. Someone made a suggestion that would help you, your response was simply No.

I have done my fair bit of complaining about the state of service/ISP's/Internet in the country but I at least apply enough common sense to know that connections drop, power failures happen, telkom lines get stolen, resets happen sometimes, and I even run out of bandwidth from time to time, all of which would cause a download to fail, so why the Hek would I not use a download manager?

7.4 GB on with any ISP whithout a Download manager.... yea sure... and Telkom is a world class Telecoms Company.
 
Can anyone else confirm if they reset their accounts? Because if so, I'm going to cancel my subscription - every morning my router complains it can't connect and I have to turn it off and on... don't think its the router, because it doesn't do it with my telkom account.
