Afrihost torrent speed?

Hi all

Ive moved over to Afrihost on the 1st of November 10mb uncapped. I'm experiencing slow torrent speeds most of the time. Is this the norm or are there problems that you are aware of? There is nothing wrong with my line speed.http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3080316234
Over the weekend I got full line speed on torrents. My reason for moving to Afrihost was to get better torrent speeds. But it seems that im worse off than i was on my 4mb premium uncapped line with Mweb. I hope its only a temporary problem.

Check under your connectivity section under clientzone, there it will tell you if your P2P is being shaped and what percentage of it is being shaped, I find that torrents are always fast for me during business hours and after 21:00, but from about 16:00 - 20:45 they are about 50% shaped.

Just remember that there are a whole lot of factors that effect a torrent's speed, if you use Vuze you can actually see the swarms speed (theoretically the speed to which you can achieve) 7/10 times its got nothing to do with the ISP
 
Home Uncapped is shaped, so during the day or when there's a heavy load on the network, this will be normal. If it really bothers you, go with a Business account.

Hi. I know its semi shaped, but to the extend that I only get 20kb/s on 4 torrents. +- 5kb/s per torrent. Even if i choose the best seeded least leached torrent. It doesnt sound right.

Sounds like normal speed while shaped.
 
Spending R900 on a 10Meg non-business is just stupid because you just going to get throttled every time. Get a 4Meg business account and you will never be throttled.
 
I am experiencing the same issue with Afrihost but I don't mind it much. I can still stream Youtube HD and browse OK. Better than the throttling at MWEB.
 
Hi, thanks for everybody's advise. I signed up for a 4mb uncapped business dsl. I would like a 10mb business uncapped line but bit pricey for me at this stage.. For now i'm 100% satisfied.

I get full torrent speed just about anytime of the day. Keep in mind I am on the humble 1Mbps. I rarely pull more than 55 GB per month. I sometimes get shaped. But Afriman tells me that its only when the network has issues or is under massive strain, like when GTA 5 and iOS7 was released.
 
Afrihost has been doing a lot of extreme shaping. our line went unshaped for the first time last night in a month
