Afrihost uncapped ADSL account move - why it was done

I use 10 - 15 Gigs / month at most. If I am a high end user then I really don't know. So yes they moved me!
I've had Afrihost 384 uncapped for about 2 months @ 8Gig first month and last month 15.5Gig and i'm classified a high end user??????Moved!!! *Me shakes my head*

they may have faster speeds initially, but IS has that 10 day rolling window K@K, which the guys conveniently forgot to mention... not that I care really, I'm on 2GB a month, and normally end up loosing about a quarter of that. :D

Afrihost do not have their own network. All they've done is migrate these uncapped users from using their pooled bandwidth that they buy in bulk from IS every month, to directly using IS's proper uncapped accounts. But let's not kid ourselves, it's all still on IS's crappy network.

I'll monitor my account this month and if it regresses, I'm gone.

I used 18gigs last month and have been moved. So 18gig obviously puts me in the 'high user' range! Noticably slower speeds since the change-over, so I'm looking at other ISPs. Any recommendations?

Guys, just move to MWEB.
I do 40GB+ per month on my 384 with no issues like this.

This move is GREAT I can now download "news" at +/- 800KB/s when last month it started off at 200KB and immediately dropped in increments to 50KB/s like a stopwatch counting off the seconds. +/-50KB has been my average all month 24/7. Now it is flying............. THANKS Afrihost.
Yes I am an "after-hours user"
Like the others say lets see what later in the month is like.
Last month I never did see my speed "go up due to less network traffic".

Whooo hoo 80Kbps on a 8meg line WTF comeone move them over so I can get full speed again thanks.

Eish Payne, you guys just could not compete, You were not ready for uncapped.

I am on a 384 line only download after hours pulled 35gb+ last month got moved over just before the end, after I asked about being throttle. Sofar I am happy with Afrihost. Full speed HTTP download. I will stay with Afrihost.

Furious

I just upgraded to uncapped (512) and I have been immediately assigned to IS...
My download speed is 0.4mbps but my upload is less than 0.05mbps...
I can't even make a skype call!!!

This is NOT uncapped this is exploitation.
Is anyone else finding this?

Afrihost, I hope you're reading this, you've just pissed off a customer who's been using and promoting your services for the past 7 years.

The IS setup may be great after hours but it absolutely blows during office hours.
I got setup day before yesterday with the IS uncapped 50%/80% thing. I conigured my router yesterday AM to work on the IS account (currently MWeb Uncapped 4mbps). I gave it a whole 3 hours and ended up back on MWeb. The IS account was all but unusable. The worst problem being that most websites just timed out. It was horrible. I switched back over to MWeb and viola - all working again.

So my advice... Jump ship. Get off IS ASAP.

been with axxess since last month 22, from the 22 to the 1st and done 33gig and yes i found that crappy 20% nonsense, you notice the throttling. i am most certain in the top20. will try openweb next month and then mweb.

so these house of cards comes tumbling down....

Also been move with ~20gb per month, 384k. Performance has been admirable actually for the past few days.

I'm on OpenWeb (384 standard) and did about the same amount in the same time and am HAPPILY cruising along with NO issues whatsoever. (People are going to start thinking that I work for them or something, but the simple truth is they really are that damn good! Torrents during office hours -depending on seeds, etc - runs anything from 25 - 35 kbps and this was just before the end of last month -after downloading in the region of 50-60GBs.) Not to mention the free calls thingie-jobbie they've got going on.

Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.
