Electricity throttling. At least if they just shaped your geyser to 25% you could still have a cup of tea :)

At this time on a Friday the problem with electricity throttling is not having cold tea, it's having warm beer.

Hi and Welcome to the MyBB Support Group...

I can't decide which is worse. At least you can throw your beer in the pool. Have you tried to boil water with a candle? - cos I have (not my finest moment, to be sure) ;)

You mean there is something else other than candles to heat water - sies man, we are so behind the times in the EC.

Zero shaping the whole day...awesome.

Shocking perf on twitch streaming 4mb account. Average is 78kB/s throughput.

Put a dl on...goes to 310kB. What more proof do you guys need to at least look at twitch services again?

:confused::rolleyes:

Can watch on low qual. Try anything medium and 480p+ and it's jitter heaven.

I tried this myself today. Watched a medium video from rAge (some kind of Quake tournament) on highest shaping with very sporadic buffering but otherwise very watchable. This was on a 10Mbps line though, and I did not that Twitch is very bandwidth hungry compared to other services, saw some major bandwidth spikes on Bitmeter :(

That's not good at all. Your real time streaming should be fine, even if you are still shaped. Please PM me so I can look at this :(

Im having the same problem here. Twitch.tv lagging on low quality. 4mb line.

No twitch is not. Because if my account could push the needed 270kB odd it is most definitely capable of then twitch on highest quality would be perfectly fine...just like I can stream youtube in HD...perfectly fine...and just like I can do on other accounts. The problem here is the afrihost uncapped account working with twitch unfortunately :(

Heya.

A friend of mine who is with IS want to use my afrihost details to check his internet connection at his place.
Would this be possible? if so... how?

Regards
Malooga

Shaped all week - this is really disappointing.

It's becoming hard to stay faithful to a company that does this!

I am told through support: "We will only shape the peer to peer connection", yet a 168mb PSN update takes over 2 hours!?

Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P

Like many people posting, I've been shaped terribly from about 8am to about midnight for the last 2 weeks - including today. The rhetoric has been:
subscriber: I'm being shaped all the time; Afrihost's network isn't working
Afriman: Our network is working fine; it's designed to shape you

Whether your network is working or not is a function of subscribers' expectations. Afrihost is simply shaping far beyond what subscribers (me included) think is reasonable. I'm steering clear of the whole "then moved to business uncapped if you don't want shaped" conversation. Bottom line is performance is far less than expectation.

Last I read Afrihost was still trying to determine exactly what the problem was - something like "hold thumbs - we're sure things will get better soon" - well I think subscribers need more details. More than a shot in the dark.

I can't remember - has Afrihost acknowledged there is a problem? What's your plan to solve it - what's your plan B to solve it?

I think the problem lies at Twitch.tv again (it's happened before). I am on a 10Meg line now and using my capped account, it works okay at medium, but on high it stutters pretty badly.

Still shaped, how can I be shaped for a full 5 days? Why are some people not shaped yet I Still am? Getting tired of having a 4mb internet connection that downloads like dialup! My patience is being tested

I'll run some more tests on my side. Might be becuase I'm using a 10Mbps account. Will see if I can test with a 4Mbps account and get it working :(

Yes, torrents still account for about a quarter of our capacity (if not more). If we could get more people to torrent and download overnight, that would be a WIN-WIN for everyone. We could really max out our capacity (which we pay for 24/7) and usage could be more spread out and shaping more lenient.

With this in mind...

Why not create a 20GB + 20GB product like TelkomInternet?

A daytime cap that allows unmetered traffic between say midnight and 8AM
