Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Hey Guys

I really appreciate the way you are handling the situation. Great stuff!

Anyway, Here is a graph showing realtime pings on the Afrihost Network, so we can track progress of fixing the issue!

Our engineers are on site with Telkom working on DSL issues in the South Region, we hope to restore full services as quickly as possible.
 
After reading through both the AH business uncapped and home uncapped threads and articles and their website I now feel that the home users are being disadvantaged.

AH business accounts are completely unshaped. If that is the case then theoretically AH needs to give capacity preference to those business accounts meaning that whatever capacity is left is given among st us home users. Resulting in insane shaping.

Shame on you AH. I hope no one cries prejudice.

We feel the way our shaping has been setup on the network is fair to everyone. Business accounts will always be the more "premium" out of the two - that's why they're Business accounts :)

Yup.
Anyone in the Southern region (Cape Town, surrounds and some of PE) will see higher latency and slow downloads until we have this sorted out.

I agree with you Afriguy :) and I support you guys as an ISP however this whole saga has led to a lot of us questioning the true dynamics of how ISP's work.

What seems fair to the ISP and their customer base may not seem fair to the individual user sitting with a 12kbps download on a Saturday night at 1am.

How do you mean it is more premium, is it not meant to be untouched, therefore disadvantaging to home accounts. so when capacity is low the home accounts will have severly slow speeds as business will have fullspeed torrents etc

I know you guys have a lot of questions and concerns around this :( I can promise you that we're doing our absolute best to have everything sorted out and back to top notch :)
 
I am glad Afrihost has seen the light and cut off the lesser provinces like the Cape so the we in JHB may have perfect internet.
 
Just noticed a latency drop - first step to success :)

However, browsing is still slow :/
