Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

@afriman. PS4 users are blocked to online servers for online play. Psn store and downloads work. Tested using Vodacom and online gaming works. Problem was yesterday. Working last night from 9pm. Now broken again. All afrihost members on sagamer forum has the same problem. Whats up?

I've seen a few posts about this but we have not been able to recreate this on our side. We have previously tested PSN and PS4 on our network and it's always worked well. We don't believe this is an issue on our side at present, but the more evidence we can see, the more we have to log this with our network people :(
 
Have you received any more IPC bandwidth since last time I was here (around Nov last year)? Do you know when to expect it?

Not as yet, but we are very very close to receiving more capacity. As soon as this lands, I'll let you guys know first ;)
 
This is often a problem with Live Chat, and then you have an option to email your request. Which is great, the problem is the emails never get responded too. I had an issue with the amount I was being billed for my account, took various attempts to get someone to actually chat to, and even then it was a lengthy process to actually get charged the correct amount. Emails still have never been responded to.

This recent hosting problem really choked up our support channels, which any kind of outage pretty much does for any call centre environment. We are working on more automation within our systems to leave our guys more free to readily available to clients.

We know our phone and email response times are a little bleak at times, I promise you this is a very high priority for us to work on.

@Afriman, what is AH's policy w.r.t cancellations? With all the ADSL troubles that South Africa seems to be having I think that it's important to know how easy it is to change?
 
I've had that issue too, before. Afriman/Afriguy here on MyBB are great, but phone and livechat support aren't up to scratch.

Our guys are really great, but they're under a lot of pressure with the recent outage and some staffing issues we've had of late (i.e. that we don't have enough people for the rate that we're growing at). We are aggressively recruiting and training more people all the time, and I believe we're close to having enough awesome people. I must say that we've also been putting people through a much longer induction period, and I personally feel the guys joining the team know are very jacked up and ready to help :)

After calling afrihost. They did a line reset it works fine. Friend also asked a reset. After 3 hours his problem rerurned. Mine still working for now.

We offer month to month service, so as long as you cancel before the 25th of the month, you can cancel within the month. If we've started our billing run however on the 25th, you'll need to cancel at the end of the following month.
 
After calling afrihost. They did a line reset it works fine. Friend also asked a reset. After 3 hours his problem rerurned. Mine still working for now.

Yeah, can't be on our side if a line reset sorts it out. We definitely not blocking content or servers on our network :(
 
Just one more month until I'm free to join AH. That delicious 10Mbs Business account is so inviting.
 
I have 3 DSL lines with AH atm, I was assigned 1x1GB free account. Is this one account for all 3 lines or should I have gotten 3 separate 1Gb accounts?

I think we only assign 1GB accounts for new lines that we convert where there is no data account. You can sign up for a Free GB account with all three lines, the only restriction is that we need a unique line for each signup. We also restrict access to that line, so you'll need one on all three if you plan to use them for now :)
 
Client Zone says that my lines already have active 1GB accounts. Client Zone also shows only 1 account. I will email support in a little while. Thanks

Cool. Otherwise PM me and I'll check it out. Each 1GB account is linked to specific line, so they shouldn't be linked to 1 like that :(
 
Netflix on uncapped is stille extremely slow. I noticed it loading quite quickly for the first 1/4 of the buffer, then crawls to a halt almost where it trickles data in, which explains why it keeps pausing to buffer.

I'm switching to a different ISP since several complaints about this has gone with the answer "nothing has changed", well, obviously something changed in January.

Just signed up for 4mbps uncapped from TI previously. The cancellation policy was the deal maker. Here's to a better relationship than the previous one... LOL

When Afrihost first switched over to mtn, on teamspeak my little country flag was no longer the ZA flag, but some foreign country's flag. Since then the IP location service that teamspeak servers use has been updated. Is it possible that because mtn is an international company, that some ranges of IP's are blocked due to apparent location being outside of South Africa? By now all 105's should be seen as originating from South Africa, unless the location service is out of date, or Sony is blocking the IP's because they thought they are not South African.
 
on a 2mb uncapped account with AH , used to get betweeb 1.4 - 1.8mpbs on speedtest now i'm lucky to even get 1mbps on a good day..its usually between 400 - 700kbps ... trouble seems to have started roubd about when telkom started with their line upgrades.
