Kudos to Afrihost. Great service delivery and support. Besides the sticky ;) you only need to look at the number of posts and responses by AH to see that they are doing an awesome job.

We all give them a hard time including myself but I think every now and then they deserve praise! :cool:

Speed crap again, Afrihost told me it was the exchange, Telkom came to my hosuie checked everything, checked the exchange, nothing was faulty, yet I get these speeds

This ia 4MB uncapped Business account.

Even general browsing is slow, very irritated with this account, far from the promised speeds> I could send a courier pigeon and it would be faster!!!!!

Steam is slow, Steam downlaods are slow, cannot watch any videos on SuperSport, WTF. I should not be chage the full price for this.

Telkom would NEVER admit that there is a problem on their side. As has been stated umpteen times before ........ drop Afriman a PM or as he says a DM, Quite often he tends to miss messages here unless someone points it out to him. It is the nature of this system.
 
Can't even watch the super 15 final, this is pathetic. I have send PM's. DM's, logged a problem with support, emailed critial acre, nothign helps, they dont even respond to emails. We even resorted to using facebook, even there they did not respond. I have sent speed test results, tracerts, but nothing gets done about it. My speed issue was logged on the 24th of last month, this is supposed to be a Business account with 24/7 prioritory support!!!!!!!! I even bought a new router from Afrihost.

A traceroute will easily show if the latency on your line is on our network our prior (Telkom's network). Can you drop me a PM so I can take a look? Otherwise drop me a mail on [email protected].

Might also be worth logging into the Telkom Guest account (guest@telkomadsl password guest) and running comparative speedtests on saix.net on Telkom's servers.

Sorry to hear that this has been such a horrible experience so far. We definitely take your feedback seriously and we'll follow up with critical care as to why this is not progressing. Please PM me and bring me up to speed on the last correspondence, so that I can get involved and get things moving again :(
 
Yep agree with Purspyk i also cant watch Supersport ? Weird even the hi lights dont all stream ? Somerset West
 
Don't understand why so many people have streaming and browsing issues, My streaming and browsing are perfect, the only that could possibly improve them would be a speed upgrade :)
 
Maybe its a Cape Town issue, or something to do with the south region and capacity. I could watch the the rugby Lions vs Southern King (minimal streaming), but if I want to watch the Ashes, I might as well not bother, continual streaming.

What even more worrying is the quality of video from Supersport is very low, so the bandwidth needed to view should not be that much, but then on Youtube I can watch the highest quality videos with no streaming. Afrihost need to sort this issue out. I have simialr issues with dstv ondemand!!

If there is an issue on our side, we'll definitely look into this. We did have some comments earlier in the thread that it was the Supersport player that was the issue. Can anyone confirm this? or confirm that it works perfectly on other networks?

I never had an issue when using an Mweb and Telkom account, so it cannot be the player.

Don't be silly. Try MWeb or Telkom account at the time you're having problems with your Afrihost account and then you can complain.

Most likely, Supersport's site is very busy and that is what's causing the streaming issues. Or you have infact a busy exchange. It's not always the ISP.

Not being silly, the issue is I no longer have the Mweb or Telkom accounts. But I was with Mweb for 2 years never had an issue with videos on Supersport, how can the site be busy if watchiung a 2min highlight video streams, and this can be any time of the day. This issue is with Afrihost. I even asked my brother in law who is based in London to test the supersport site for me, watching the same video, no issues.

Hey Guys - I need your advice.

For some reason, every few hours, i get a network lapse at which point my internet at home just stops working. Pages just load forever and nothing happens, however, I am able to ping websites and get normal ping times while this is happening. This happens for about 5 minutes and then starts working again by itself? I've looked, and there is no network loop. Also, the router logs don't show any disconnects or restarts? It just happens for no reason, on all devices.

I've tried quite a few options, but nothing seems to be fixing it...

Anyone ever had an experience like this?

It might be a different route, but it is an indication that something is not right. If a 1MB Telkom account can out perform a 4MB account viewing the same site then there are issues. The Telkom account was a 1MB account. I have little faith in critial care, as they gave me account to test, I emailed results (twice) and never received a response. I have received a fell phone calls though, but nothing ever gets resolved. I dont have time to do continual tests when nothing gets addressed. As I said Telkom came to my house, tested everything, and the exchange. They claim everything is working, and because they are the only ones that seem to have done anything to date, I have to believe them.

I am also not the only user on this forum mentioning an issue with Supersport. Has anyone at Afrihost actually tested to see if the videos play correctly?
