Mmmmmm anyone??

Would this have any effect on the speeds we are getting??

There is a cable failure (started last week, I think Thursday). I think it was EASSy, but I am not sure (it is on the Durban to Amsterdam route, which I think is on EASSy).

The SAIX/IPNet guys have been getting more temporary capacity on other routes, and doing some routing changes. But, until:
-EASSy is fixed (I believe it should be fixed by today, but I am not 100% sure if is up yet)

Was taken from the Telkom ISP forum..

Could someone explain what the numbers mean?
Does that mean it's x% of the original speed? Or what?

How does "18.8% Download" equate to me getting 70-90KB/s on a Debian ISO I need for a server build, whether I use a local or international source for the file.

what speed is your account?

hmm, you know shaping is bad when even the adds on youtube struggle to buffer :P

Afrihost can't handle me streaming Netflix 1080p.

JINX shows usage at just above busy weekend daytime levels, and shaping's yet to let up... at all?

Sense. This makes none.

Okay, this new Client Zone just made my retinas explode. The colours, the faint-text on white backgrounds.. ugh!

Be lucky bra. I'm not even on 100GB yet and shaped like that too...

But worst of all. I feel like a chop now. Convinced my bud to move onto Afrihost and since day 1 with no usage at all he was down to 25% Download and 6.5% P2P.. Now that is an awesome first experience..

Hey

Remember that shaping is based on the overall network usage, it doesn't look at your data or usage on individual accounts.
Shaping will also not affect realtime services.

Please keep me posted on how things go tonight and after hours.

Sweeeet will do. And yeah I know it doesn't take your usage into account. But just a bad first experience for him.

that latency is rough. Still only getting 4mbps, ping is a bit better though. Sent my speedtest to a lad named kyle, hopefully it gets sorted...

By the way, is there summat wrong with the news server?

Trace complete.

Looks like there may be very severe congestion on your line or Telkom exchange. Have you cancelled ALL background services before running the traceroute?

Kyle is one of our best and brightest, running our critical care division. He'll definitely got you sorted :)
