I have two quick questions.

1) Where is the turbocharge feature in client zone (Obviously I don't need it now, I would just like to know for future referance)

2) Where would I look to see if I am shaped?
 
Hi Afriguy

Do you have any idea what is going to happen with the Telkom speed upgrades and price changes and how it is going to affect your product range?

I am currently on the 2 meg all inclusive deal and would like to know what it going to happen once the upgrades kick in?

We're still waiting for the confirmation from Telkom on how we'll roll with this :)
For the Capped guys, they'll see a speed increase as soon as their line speeds are increased. We'll confirm the process and what'll happen with Uncapped accounts soon.
 
So if you have plenty of capacity why are you needing to shape?

As I mentioned in my previous reply, to make sure that the overall experience is a good one. Realtime isn't shaped, so for us to make that happen we need to implement some shaping on the Home Uncapped accounts.

If we opened the flood gates we'd see a much higher contention for P2P, NNTP etc etc and things would slow down (across the board) to almost unbearable.

Some good looking speeds you posted there, welcome aboard!
The turbocharge option is available via the new ClientZone (the one with the blue background) under Connectivity and then your data package.
Shaping information is displayed on the same page I described above :)

Cant stream anything atm :( 2 meg account being shaped into the ground. Speed test below

Hey Mr Afriman, I just have to say thank you to you and your team! I got my router, plugged it in at home, didnt work from the get go but I phoned the help line and a few minutes later I was up and running... Got great speeds for the middle of the day as well... Attached a screenshot I took with my phone for everyone to see :)View attachment 72955

Dude, your speeds will always be good anytime. the download is the bitch in this relationship at the moment.

This is set to improve, however we need to keep in mind that Home Uncapped accounts are subjected to shaping though :(
As soon as I have more feedback around the shaping I'll have it posted up here.

Yeah I think we know that by now. But never seen shaping like this on your network before. So at the moment it is a bitch.

Fully understand, just want to keep it known that we are exploring as many options as possible to reduce the shaping :)

I've just logged into clientzone now only to find that I've been shaped as well....
My speeds have been a maximum of 50% for the past week and a half, and now I'm being shaped.

Guys, not being funny but this is BS.
 
My Afrihost account has been unbelievably slow this week. The account has been shaped even though my usage has been lower than it's ever been (been away often). Since they started with the shaping a few days ago the account hasn't recovered. Something's borked...

Upgrading the IPC capacity won't solve this I'm afraid. Adding extra capacity also isn't an overnight fix, it takes a lot of planning.
