We'll need to look further into this. If there is a line or exchange issue, then all ISP accounts will be less than awesome :(

I've transferred the line as well so waiting for that to go through then you guys can check the whole setup.

Afriman I'm getting tired of this. I know you say streaming doesn't get shaped but on a my 2mb uncapped account, lots of buffering on this site http://www.vipboxsports.me. Switched to the free capped account and hardly any buffering. Same thing with torrents, clientzone says no shaping I get 140 kBps, switch to capped account and 185kBps

Last night downloads were going at 380-410kb/s on my 4 meg uncapped account. Today I'm getting 220-250kb/s (no shaping policy applied).

What's going on, Afrihost?

Guys - some advise, please:
So i cancelled my "uncapped" account with Mweb this week.
i'm switching to Afrihost on Tuesday (1 Oct) & was wondering which uncapped Afrihost account would suit my needs best?
i download on average between 140-180gb per month. (game downloads off Steam & the Wii U & 3DS eShop. the rest of the adsl usage in the home goes to Youtube streaming.)

would the normal Afrihost 2Meg uncapped account @ R297p/m be okay for the above usage? Or do i need to get a Business DSL 2Meg uncapped account for R397p/m?

Same thing here! Except mine tops out at max 80kbps (average 40 - 70 kbps) ON A 10MBPS LINE!!!

i am satisfied so far with my switch from mweb - i will keep a close eye month on month. after mweb - no excuses for poor service. bad service and i move on. loyalty with mweb meant absolutely nothing but lets see with Afrihost.
So far - so good.

Hey marco, I just switched at the beginning of this month to AH from Mweb - well I can say that it's been mostly a great experience. I am on the 1Mbps R297 p/m bundle. I've had mostly free reign this month both with realtime and non-realtime services running at great speeds. However in the last part of the month there has been some shaping on NRT services - it was around for the past week but this weekend it's been pretty good.

As for usage, well its the 29th and I've done about 120gb this month - I run torrents probably around 2/3rds of the day with it being off probably between 12pm and 6-8pm while I work. I'm still using online streaming and youtube from time to time during my work hours. So yeah I think there is a possibility to hit between 140 and 180 but I'd reckon 115-130gb is a fair consistent expectation on the 1Mbps package. 2Mbps is probably the way to go if you can spare the cash to guarantee 180gb upwards over the month - the business uncapped with probably be absolutely worth it as AH reckons theres no shaping at all..

Are Microsoft's Dreamspark downloads shaped by any chance? It's running on port 80, and my account says no shaping applied, but I'm only getting 120-130KB/s on it, from my 2Mb account.

Seems to be sorted now. But I think we still need to know what the issue was.

It's happening again... Speeds are all over the place!! 160kb/s, then 280kb/s, then back down to 120kb/s. This ain't right.

There must be some sort of shaping or QoS going on somewhere...

:/

Still
Shaping Policy: No Shaping Applied
for me.
I just want this M$ download to finish. It's down to 58KB/s now... which makes a 3GB download go veeeeeery slow.
