Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

After the umpteenth restart on the Skype installation something clicked somewhere, and it came in at a sold 300+ kb/s. That being said, how's that handle on things coming along, Afrihost? Yesterday shaping started at 'round 9:30, today it's starting at 7:30. Sure doesn't look like an improvement from here...
 
Now downloading at 15 KB/s - file size 990 Mb time left 11 Hours. This download will almost certainly fail, probably after 5 or 6 hours but hey I am on uncapped so why should I care? I'll just start it over and when that fails I'll just start it over and when that fails ...... head explodes. In the last 2 weeks I must have downloaded 25 Gb, of which around 15Gb was useable, the rest were failed downloads. All of the failed downloads were after the "slightly more aggressive" shaping started. Most of my downloads are 990Mb so even scheduling them for night when there is no shaping (or so they say) I get one download a night if it doesn't fail so at that rate I will get 30 Gb in a month for which I am paying R197 - great deal or what? I want to get a premium account from uploaded as that is where I mostly download from but that adds another R140 to the monthly cost and given the shaping I won't get any faster downloads from them.
How do I get my double money back guarantee??
 
@Afriguy Morning I just joined AH hours ago and have not been able to get anything over half my line speed on any protocol who can check that for me ? Surely there is something screwy with that ? I am getting +- 431kbps on a 1mb

Think yourself lucky - I am getting 15KB/s on a 1 Mb - you should see better speeds around midnight but only for a few hours then back to normal I'm afraid.

I've been getting an AMAZING 28kbps average download speed on a 1.9 gig torrent that I started before 8 last night... it finished at around uhm... half an hour ago

Who did you spoon with last night to get those good shaping speeds?
Mine is currently: Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Yeah you need to have a buddy during these tough times mate. Do horrible things, but all in the name of less shaping

Ha Ha! I hear you! Do totally unmentionable things - but totally worth the extra 6.2% download speed I say :). Thanks for laugh this morning my shaped buddy :)
 
Hi Afriman/guy/pig/bear/sheep

What are your primary and secondary DNS servers?
Thought my connection had gone even more haywire last night, turns out UnoTelly's servers are messing around...
Only a few select domains resolve.
Not sure if anyone else using the UnoTelly Cape Town as primary and UK as secondary is experiencing the same issue?

I'm unable to get to the MyBB website, news24.com, hotmail.com, even google.com doesn't resolve.

i cant even watch a Youtube video now without painful buffering. Highly frustrating trying to study and watch lectures when it just stops. im on a 4mb, uncapped line.
