Just read that too. I remember the boycott on ISP's not supporting free peering last year.

Edit: I don't think it's the reason for the issues AH have at the moment. If it was the reason then capped and unshaped ADSL would suffer as well.

Shaping is proactive behavior so AH are protecting exactly those users possibly because of upstream congestion.

Nope, we're still trying to pin down what exactly is causing these higher network loads :(

2 weeks and counting. It's a long time to try an solve an issue.

Anyway, I will bite the bullet and persist for now. Maybe things will turn around. But I think that is what a lot of us was saying last year around the same time, when you moved to MTN.

AH - You already admitted there is a problem somewhere and most of your engineers are trying to pinpoint the problem. Now why do you publish a misleading statement like this on your website?

Network fully functional
We are currently not experiencing any problems or degradation on any parts of our network.

It is a long time, if it was a quick fix that took an hour or two we would have done it already :(
Our best guys are on it.

There is an issue with higher network demand. In times of higher network demand Home Uncapped accounts are subjected to shaping which is what's happening - our network is fine.

What we need to figure out here is where the traffic is coming from, pin point it and deal with it from there to ease the shaping.

In the tech world the near two weeks you've had to get a bearing on things is an awfully long time though. Admittedly there was a holiday and a weekend or 2 in there, but there's been absolutely no improvement in the situation. From outside that's rather troubling.

As I said, it's not a quick fix though.
If only there was a nice GUI showing the basics - then I'd personally fix it. That's not the case, to cover the entire network and find a cause on an issue like this does take time.

I think we've established that it's not a quick fix. :D My concern, at this point, is rather whether a solution will present itself at all.

So it's back to 1/4 of my 4Mbit line speed.
Downloading at 90kb/s - open a page with some large images and the download slows down to 80kb/s and the images on the page take ages to load up.

*sigh*

And what do AH biz accounts behave like during AND ofter biz hours?

I've only noticed the degradation in speed over the past 48 hours; it had been fine up until then. Torrents and NNTP are barely moving: 5kbps on a 2Mb line. However, I kicked off the BF4 Beta download (5.5GB) this morning around 01:00. It came down at the full 200kbps + and was complete by the time I left for work...

The Business Uncapped and our Capped accounts are unshaped 24/7 :)

on ALL protocols?

Still, it's after 5pm, I want to get some stuff done.. but alas, 88kb/s
18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

So to get unshaped HTTP downloads I'd have to fork out about double for unshaped HTTP downloads.

Yes. A friend of mine has the 8Mb Business account and everything he puts onto a list gets grabbed at lightning speed.
