Peering congestion is causing ADSL problems, says source

mmmm so the big boys need to invest more in peering - and render it settlement free ...

I am not able to work out:
"We have clients on Internet Solutions’ network, and it looks like the link is saturated from Telkom to IS, but is not saturated from IS to Telkom. This may show that IS is not fulfilling their obligation to upgrade their link as required"

which direction is the balance of traffic?

@RPM so where this so called network analysis report??
thought you would have put in article and not just talk, show it? put it out there so the ISP can't just deny it.

I'm not sure but if your up-link is jammed up then acknowledge packets cant get back to you and it screws up your connection....latency and connection through put. :confused:

Well something is definitely wrong in the world of ADSL & I hope they all grow up and fix it instead of playing passive aggressive peering wars.

So where do I go to not be part of this stupidity.
I am with Imaginet and my uploads are much faster than the downloads
Any suggestions?

When restrictive or paid for peering is involved, it's usually the end user who is affected

Peering links. Um, okay. What has peering got to do with ADSL? I didn't know that ADSL traffic as such runs over peering links. Does it? I thought ADSL data was delivered to the ISP, and only from there does it become first class IP traffic, at which point peering is an issue ... I would love my ADSL to use a peering link, but I really don't think it works like that. Once it's peering, ADSL is many hops back.

I too would like to know what ISP to move to, I am with mweb and it is completely useless right now.

If congestion is the problem, then changing ISP won't help.

Register for a free 1GB account at Afrihost and test with that account and see if there is a difference.

You can also pm the Telkom rep (TelkomZA) here on the forum and provide him with your details and traceroute. He might be able to help if it is a Telkom issue.

Thanks for the reply RoMark. I am trying the free Afrihost 1GB right now and I am having the same problem. So it could be a Telkom problem.
 
I would then suggest you pm TelkomZA and explain your problem. They have build quite a reputation since adding their services here on the forum.
Good luck with your problem. I had similar problems, although not so bad as your stats
