and i can't even get 300kbps on youtube. i really am considering leaving. worst thing i ever did was to leave mweb at the end of last month. i was never shaped, and never throttled. ever. i suppose if you pay less, you get less...
 
Been getting 100kB on my 4mb account for the last 10 hours...no shaping.

Used a friends 4mb mweb premium account...370kB...

Now that is just wrong.

That's not the case at all. While are prices are lower, we don't offer a cheap product. We've done extensive testing on our QoS and they've all shown that realtime services perform optimally even with shaping present.

We'll need to run some more test with you and find out why you're not getting good real time performance :(

Getting worried here. I see another Mweb "solution" in the making! aka "don't upgrade the network, rather downgrade the customers with a downgraded service!" :twisted:

That's not a sustainable business model and definitely something we'd ever consider. Even with the current shaping, this is still within the provisions of our product offering, but changing the rules on paying clients is not something that is consistent with our brand. We usually offer clients a product for life, or we offer something better or the same price (or less)
 
We're not seeing general issues like this, except for some areas where there have been Telkom issues during the day.

Can you DM me so I can check your line and exchange on Telkom's notice board?

Ok well I am connected again. I didn't touch any config on my side.

Was unable to connect from 14:00 till ~21:00. From ~12:00 till ~14:00 it was intermittent, kept on dropping ADSL connection.

Something stinks here...

As stated. It does not matter what I try and do.

Youtube. 100kB throuput. Other streaming sites...100kB. Torrent...100kB. Nzb the same.

My graph looks like a flat cap. Feels like my line as been downgraded to a 1mb. I don't even get any peaks above 100kB.

Nothing's changed on our side. Sounds like it was a Telkom issue in your area :(

i am honestly getting so tired of PMing afrihost helpers. it's great that you are here, and thank you for that.

but since switching to afrihost from mweb at the beginning of this month, my supersport is buffering all the time. i can barely watch youtube at 240p (and often not at all).

my speedtests are stellar. i sync at 10Mbps. i have low pings to afrihost. i am almost always "unshaped" according to clientzone. i am so over running traceroutes and sending them through.

the capped account performs admirably for streaming! the uncapped account is useless for streaming!

are you trying to tell me that my connection magically gets a fault whenever it's connected to uncapped? that magically fixes itself when i log into the capped account? that magically appears again in perfect time for when i log into the capped account?

come on!

it is obvious that something is set up that affects youtube (and supersport).

i have tried using youtube vanilla. i have tried using youtube with a buffering plugin. i have only ONCE been able to stream youtube (at any resolution) in realtime - and that was for five minutes before i left for work one morning.

i have been "helped" about five times now by five different people (including kyle at support) and still no result!

you don't even offer a 150GB bundled capped product. so i am forced to go with your shoddy uncapped product.

i don't abuse downloads, whether p2p, nzb, http or other.

i just want the service you advertise.

It is 10pm on a Saturday and I have 25/12.5% shaping on my line. I understand you are experiencing difficulties at the moment, but this is completely unacceptable. Can you not give us any reasonably defined timeline for resolving these issues?
 
Not the last month you are not. Uncapped is just not uncapped anymore no matter where you go.

Every ISP will face technical issues. What sets us apart is how we handle them and what we do. We always come out in favour of clients and find ways to give back to our clients. We've had our share of challenges over the years, and I've always seen us coming out of the challenge in a way that not only sorts out the problem, but delights our clients over and above that.

I know that this will be the case and these issues will be behind as very soon.
 
Seems like I spoke too soon. Just got disconnected again.

If I pick up the phone, I hear normal dial tone, but also this rapid clicking sound. Does that mean anything?

That sounds like your router trying to find a connection. You'll need to PM me with your line number so I can check your exchange and line to see what's up.

I changed from 4mb uncapped bundle to 10mb 100Gb bundle capped last week. Was a good decision :) Watched a youtube channel now of Metallica live in full screen 1080p without a single buffer. Same price as before, and I've only once ever gone over 100Gb in the last year so...

EDIT - Have been with AH for a few years now. Still think they are the best option, and they will get through this just as they did with the MTN cutover
