Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

No, I also informed you that you were contradicting AfriMan when it comes to gaming on Afrihost uncapped accounts.

BTW, it's not more than a few pages ago when you thanked someone for insulting Afrihost customers. Have you forgotten that already?

Just Stop, seriously.

No, you haven't posted a correction since you contradicted Afriman. You also haven't posted an apology. So none of the two things have been covered.

okay.

THis is a correction.

This is an apology.

Now drop it...

I know it isnt from Afriguy, but whatever, just stop.

Heh. Stop feeding the troll. Maybe he'll eventually realise nobody gives a crap, and shut up.

Just a heads up: A few pages back your boss said that he was happy that Afrihost were throttling games so much that they become unusable. He also said that you need a capped account if you want to play games. You may want to synchronise your statements with his.

I cant seem to find the relevant post in the preceding 360 pages. Can you perhaps provide a link / post number to it, as it will definately inform my decision in the next few days.

Sure, I'll stop asking when Afriman and Afriguy figure out which one is right and which one is wrong. As it is now, the two keep posting contradicting information in this thread. Evidence shows that Afriman is right, though.

So, Afriguy, which one is it?

To refresh your memory, here's what Afriman said about gaming less than 24 hours ago:

AfriMan said:
we will shape it and we are very comfortable with that. If you don't want to be shaped on your gaming - we have unshaped products.

(Note: 'Shape' is Afrihost codeword for 'throttle'.)

Already posted. You should probably also know that Afriman got so upset that I called OpenTTD a game that he went and terminated my Afrihost account and started trying to smear me personally on here :)

If you read the whole discussion that time, he was referring the p2p gaming, the shaping of p2p traffic

No, he merely called games 'P2P' to avoid having to answer for why they were throttling games. And as he said, if you don't want your games throttled, you have to go with their capped accounts. Just because Afrihost calls games 'P2P' does not mean that they don't throttle games.

Was doing an update last night of around 1.2GB on my 1Mb/s Afrihost uncapped line. I'm a new customer, only had this line since early-mid October 2013.

It was 22:50 in the evening, when suddenly, my download was quite clearly and obviously THROTTLED. Wtf? I thought you shaped but never throttled.

I've had reports of people downloading well over 200GB per month on a 1Mb/s Afrihost uncapped line. I have no intentions of downloading that much every month. My computer has been off all day and most of the night. I don't like my computer being on while I'm asleep and I'm away at work during the day and don't like leaving my computer on while I'm away. I'm pretty much only downloading between 19:00 and 23:00

That's roughly 4 hours a day. Right now it's 19:40 and I haven't even downloaded anything yet today.

So last night I was throttled, not shaped, throttled. It was 22:50, nearly midnight, clearly an off-peak time. I immediately checked my stats, and over the last 4 days I had used a grand total of 2.34GB

That's an average of 17.55GB per month. Is this what I can expect in weeks/months to come? I'm planning on downloading a 25GB file that I've been putting off for over a year due to not having enough cap. How long is it going to take to download 25GB? Two months?

Do you guys use a fair usage rolling period or something? Have I unfairly abused the uncapped line with an enormous 2.34GB over the last 4 days?

Edit: ugh, spoiler tags don't work in this forum.

I guess you're referring to Afrihost's "ADSL Leaderboard"? If so, the only way you can get on there is if you know how to work around their throttling. Hint: You need to download through a VPN.

The only smearing that's happening is by you, and your conduct is only reinforcing what you seem to be trying to deny. It's really very poor form to quote things grossly out of context as you are.

This really needs to stop before the MyBB moderators get involved.

Hey, we have the senior Afrihost guy here now. So who is right, you or Afriguy?

Hey Netar

Sorry about this, we are having to implement additional shaping due to an increase in demand on our network. Our team are doing the best they can to have everything resolved here.

Hey, we have the senior Afrihost guy here now. So who is right, you or Afriguy?

Please move on now, this vendetta you have is of no interest to any other clients who are genuinely wanting to get information, and you are blatantly spreading false information which several other forumites have called you on.

So I take it that you're gonna keep refusing to tell us why you and AfriGuy are saying completely opposite things. People considering giving Afrihost their money, take note.

You seem to have a very specific point you want to drive home, it's not working.
This was all covered last night. Please stop spamming the thread, it's seriously time to move on now.

lmao the best thing to do now would be to ignore new-in-za's posts because clearly he has no respect for anybody here

I really don't know how to argue with your imagination. I even Googled this. No-one else thinks we are contradicting each other. You've made your point, as absurd as it may be. Considering the reaction from the rest of the forum, I'm surprised that you still have the energy to argue this non-topic.

Please move on now, you are seriously hampering our ability to help and inform clients who also would like to use this thread :(
