Only in the north? Not any other regions such as Kwazulu Natal :(

I see you found the answer in your next post. We're not doing much shaping in KZN anyway - so you guys will be flying.

We should see some great performance in all regions though :)

This does look like a congested exchange, your 2nd hop should be as low as possible. Is your line with us?

Yeah, you can only really trace to the domain - so it's very difficult to trace where it comes from. I wish youtube would give more info about where the content is actually streaming from.

I think one of our clients found a way to do this recently, but not sure how he did it :(

Go to keepvid.com - put in the URL of the vid and, after accepting all the java stuffs, the list of possible downloads come up. Right click on the links and copy URL. Do a tracert to that URL (just the root domain, excluding everything after .com)
 
Afrihost. I would like to commend you on the great service down south! I have not been shaped once for about 3 weeks now (even those times when new games/os's were released).

I have had my full line speed 24/7, and have even managed 1.2MBps on my 10Meg account!

P.S: All the northerners, capacity is on its way so hang in there!
 
I am happy to say that a Telkom network engineer has contacted me and will be checking out my query and dslam.

He said he will give me a buzz tomorrow morning with results. He said it is possible that congestion is playing a role in my issue.

Well arnt u lucky. Had such a great start with afrihost , now been perma shaped for the past week day and night.

Was told Pe doesn't demand a lot of capacity. So I wonder why im been shaped so heavily.

Plus upgraded to business 1 meg about 2 hours ago and even though my clientzone says unshaped. Dl speeds crawling at 5kb/s
