Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

I don't understand that for 5 weeks everyone has been complaining (incl me) but like typical South Africans most do nothing about it. While I still think that Afrihost is one of the best ISPs with probably the best support, you guys are paying money for something that is definitely sub par (think Fong Kong). I moved to another isp about 2 weeks ago where my Netflix and Hulu stream in HD all day and my p2p flies during the specified times. Happiness.

I moved to Cybersmart following another forum member's recommendation. The capped accounts are really good linked to the supersize option (1000gb after hours) otherwise I'm currently on the smart business uncapped. I will say tho that the support is not that great but after you get everything going then it's smooth sailing. Ps. My line is with Telkom and you need to give Cybersmart a calendar month's notice if you want to move. Prices are good.

thanks for the feedback .

my account is shaped hence the poor response . the question why am i shaped and you not .
I have questioned afrihost on their policy and dont get a clear answer.

We have tried to answer all the queries regarding how it all works. Please let me know what parts are still unclear to you. We shape according to usage patterns - not usage totals. But we only shape in the first place according to demand - which determines how much shaping is necessary to match available resources on the network.

Currently no shaping here in Pretoria, things are looking up. :)

We're seeing much better performance in general in the North at the moment. There is still some shaping - even today - but much, much better than we've seen previously. At present little to no shaping in the East or the South - which is awesome :)

Okay that about the South?

Pretty much everyone should be unshaped in the South right now except for the very heaviest users :)

not me , still capped. i have managed to get 50 mb , yes mb p2p today . I got better in 1994 with dial up .
What erks me is that the data i have got this month has been via turbo that i had to pay for and then that is added presumably to |the total so I am called a large user .
I am tired of not knowing where I stand - of just having my service effectively cancelled with no notification having the helpful suggestion that i should just pay more - my doing that - and then still no service .

what is a usage pattern ?

Afripeople, I'm considering a move from uncapped to capped, but before I do that I want to review my data usage for the entire history of the connection. Is there any way I can get the total usage per month without manually requesting data logs per month one at a time off the Clientzone?

And if I do go ahead with the move, is the transition seamless at the specified time of activation? Don't want any surprises with double billing or no service, though you guys have always been good about that kind of thing.

Can anyone shed some light on this traceroute to a local server. Why on earth am I getting 1000ms plus?
