Mmmm that's interesting :(

still sitting at 12.5%/6.25% for the last 48 hours in JHB... didn't see anything of the additional capacity so far... even youtube is slower than normal. I really don't get why shaping doesn't improve after 6pm.

I am on a 4mbps uncapped package, line is capable to 10mbps, I have never seen speeds faster than 2.5 mbps. Is this normal, my shaping is 18.8% download and 6.2% psp

+1

I have a 10Mbit line ... my current torrent speed is 26kb/s and NZB speed is 2kb/s.
When I run speedtest.net ... the first half of the test runs at around 8Mbps, the second half (still of the download portion) reduces to basically nothing ... making my average download speed useless.

I have tried bringing this up with Afriguy, but sadly, no resolve yet ... now my mom wants me to find us a new ISP cause she can't stream her films from Russia for the past 2 weeks or so :(

Tracert's came out normal, so I imagine it is the shaping which is now making the experience unpleasant (also because the speedtest shows my line can hit 8Mbps) ... even browsing and youtube is choppy at best :(

Oh ... literally in the last minute or so my line started downloading full speed ahead ... this shaping is annoying me ... it's not just moving my torrents and NZB's down to nothing, but also affecting my browsing experience (No, it's not the torrents or NZB's, I don't usually have many running during normal awake hours, only occasionally when I want something immediately), so this is becoming a real pain.

The fact that it just starting running at full steam proves it's not my line, nor my equipment ... but rather something on Afrihost's side (most likely the shaping).

Edit again: It seems to be VERY intermittent ... shooting up to very fast, then down to stupid slow ... I'm guessing this is probably the Shaping turning itself down across the network...

Further edit: This must be a joke!!!!

(And in case you think it's my NZB provider ... I have 3 different PAID providers, all running at the same speed right now!)

Centurion out along with Pretoria? My line was screwy when I got home and it's completely dead now, but moving tomorrow so not really a problem

That definitely sounds like shaping, yes :(

Afriman will definitely have to check your account and see how things can improve

Nearly 7am on a Saturday and shaped to death. This is not on.
25% Download/ 6.5% P2P

Afrishape, you have been promising us a solution now for 2 months. Its always soon, soon, soon. I forecast a great exodus on the 25th.

Maybe it will be better with cough cough, M-Web? At least they will only throttle when you are on a certain higher usage pattern.
I'm sure with my usage pattern, I won't be throttled.
Data Used: 43.80 GB
Average Daily Usage: 2.74 GB
Projected Monthly Usage: 82.12 GB

It seems that the shaper is stuck on a few clients. PM Afri-rep and they will reset the shaper for your account

Mweb limits have been tentatively figured out as being 100gb/mbps package. I.e if you have a 4mb package you can download 400gb within 30 days and be fine. You will be throttled once you hit 13gb odd daily average. The premium accounts have a slightly higher limit. Many think 50gb more, so 4mb premium would be 450gb. Hope this helps.

Just remember though...Mweb does NOT guarantee full speed on torrents under ANY circumstances...

Hi guys, just a question, I upgpraded my 1mb/s business uncapped to a 2mb/s business uncapped and also upgraded my line to a 2mb yesterday. I got the message saying that it may take up to 48 hours for the line to be upgraded, and about 5 hours later I received a message saying that the upgrade has been completed. My line is still only syncing at 1536 kb/s and not at 2048. I stay in Auckland Park, Johannesburg. Speeds are fine but I really want a proper 2mb/s sync atleast. Any ideas on this?

Could you ask your neighbors if you could look at their router stats. I know that might sound creepy but it is possible that your area's max sync rate is 1536kbps
