Our 10MB line is borderline useless at the moment. We have no shaping applied but we're downloading at a max of 31Kbps? That's not what we're paying for...really annoyed.

Can you give me some more info to go on here. Is it just downloads going slow - is everything slow? Slow speedtests, etc.

Also, can you run a traceroute so we can check latency?

Drop me a PM so we can test further :(

My problems started on monday, well I actually only noticed it on monday, could have been going on before that.

I live in the CBD, thought this would have been a priority area because of all the companies around.

Sigh so tired of having issues (not blaming Afrihost, just venting)

I'm seeing a few complaints in the Cape area from this morning and last night on Twitter and Facebook as well - but they all seem to be ultimately Telkom related. In terms of overseas services it's very unlikely that we wouldn't be affected national with those same issues. My gut tells me that this is most likely connected to the reports we're getting from CT about Telkom problems.

We need more info though to really figure out what could be happening :(

What info do you need? Info from us or from telkom.

In my one pm last night (thanks to Zertop) I was able to send you everything you could possibly need. Speed tests, trace routes, etc.

As far as our regions work - we have have North, South and East. As far as I know Bloem goes through North :)

Damn...at least got the East and South right...:p

Will do some tests tonight if my line has that jitter again with the up and down spikes.

Can you please explain the differnet regions you talk about?? Which regions are where?

We have three regions at the moment - determined by our three IPCS in Durban (EAST), Cape Town (SOUTH) and Joburg (North). All national traffic is routed through one of these IPCs - basically whichever is geographically closest.

Im in the East of JHB and have been shaped like crazy for the last month and a half on my 1meg line... 5 Kb/s Max if im lucky, i got so fed up that i upgraded to the Business DSL this morning as per Afrihost Tech's advice and now im only getting 1.6Kb/s P2P and http downloads are at a staggering 18 Kb/s from 7Kb/s... :(

ROFL - I don't think that it has something to do with shaping, seems like your telkom line is crap, post your routers line stats here and then we can where the problem lies.

Not really, every time i used Turbocharge my DL speeds go up to 90Kb/s and even 108... The line is 100%.. Speedtest gives me 0.84 Down and 0.43 Up.

AfriMan should be able to fix this for you in no time, had same issues a while back.

I've had a look at your latest post, mentioning Turbocharge - but this isn't a feature of our Business Uncapped accounts.
Please drop me a PM so I can see what's going on here.

Oh awesome! Thanks :) I phoned the support centre and 2 dslam port resets later, same thing, let me use the magical Fix My Line buttong in client zone and see what happens, ssh to my router at the moment has a response time of a 747 trying to do a backflip..
