What are the plans with the upgrades though? I don't download much but would like to see my full download speed. Don't mind paying a bit extra.

You can upgrade at any time :) If you want to upgrade mid-month you can, billing is run on pro-rata.

I have my line with you as well, what is the new price for the bundle (currently R200 more than 2MB)? The line should surely stay the same, just the data increase.

Right here is some proof of what some guys here and myself included have been experiencing. I have been getting this since Tuesday only - before that my line was fine. Tests done just now.

This is what my Afri capped account looks like; PERFECT



This is what my Afrihost uncapped looks like running SAME stream; Not so perfect - jittery




Speedtest on capped is also maxed - uncapped not so much. Telkom guest account also flies.

Shaping level: NO SHAPING APPLIED

Ergo...what is going on with your uncapped service?
 
I have my line with you as well, what is the new price for the bundle (currently R200 more than 2MB)? The line should surely stay the same, just the data increase.

If you are looking for a higher sync there would be additional costs there.

On capped everything flies. If I had shaping applied then sure I could understand my downloads taking a hit, but youtube also suffers. Forget about streaming HD with this jitter.

The Bundle price will be the difference, between the two packages. The line needs to be upgraded in order to handle the faster data.
What you can do, is bundle whichever Uncapped data you'd like with a 10Mbps package. Upgrading to a faster Uncapped data account will be instant, then you'll only pay for the difference in data.

I dont really understand this. So, for instance, i've been upgraded via telkom to a 4Mbp account. I can simply purchase the 4Mb data package now and be on a 4Mb? I feel like this isnt accurate though, or afrihost servers arent seeing the line speed :(. Ive tried using the 1gig data they give us as well as the 50gig data which i have. Its still only syncs at 2Mbp even though im clearly on 4Mbp :(

I have been speaking mostly with Afriman on this issue, but from what I see it is exactly what Orihalcon describes.

I did receive a call from one of your techies, and have emailed him a bunch of tests to assist.

I believe they are working on it. I have the same issue and they are busy sorting it out. It started pretty much with the CPT IPC Outage, so something must've been changed that shouldn't have. They'll fix it soon enough :D
 
Afrihost: your 'managed' adsl line rentals are a disgrace, its more expensive than telkom and your definition of managed is to log a fault with Telkom and then wash your hands of any further responsibility. Please put someone in charge of line rental that is prepared to add some value to the product because at the moment it makes far more sense to just keep your line with Telkom.

They are being updated to new pricing soon, and I disagree - Afrihost is always prepared to help whenever there is an issue.

If your line is with Telkom and at 4Mbps it'll be fine.
If the line is with us, at 2Mbps (regardless if Telkom have upgraded the line) you'll have to upgrade the line with us. This is happening now as we haven't adjusted our prices and line speeds in accordance with Telkoms speed increases just yet.
