Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Afriman/Afriguy

I'm getting a 1.71Mb/s speedtest.
I've tried testing my line on clientzone, but that's failing.

Hulu/Netflix - don't even think about loading it.
My internet is dead - please help!

Can someone from your helpdesk please call me - I called your number but 24 minutes to speak to someone was a bit excessive.

Sorry to hear that your experience was so poor and you couldn't get any help.

Drop me a PM, but please run our Network Test App first so I can see the results :(

Latency's through the roof. Sup?

Wow, that's some insane latency from inside our network. It could be a brief backlog of traffic requests as our shaper is making an adjustment to the network. In general, latency has been reasonably stable - so this is pretty much not the norm as far as I've seen :(

True that. They are busy today seeing that they haven't been on this forum much today

Sorry I've been a little absent. Been helping out with some client complaints today from the support team. Rough times :(

Luckily, they all seem to be very happy now :)

I'm guessing Pretoria, Waverley, is perpetually on high demand...
Soundcloud streaming buffers every 10 seconds, youtube buffers even at 240, I'm really unhappy with this constant issue.

And downloaded the network tool thing, it won't launch, it just idles in taskbar services

Definitely something weird there. The network test app is actually pretty tiny - it's like 30MB or something like that.

Any traceroutes we can look at?

Yes, just replied on that thread. Sounds a little "conspiracy theory" like to me. We really have no interest, or really the time or resources, to get involved in that kind of malfeasance. The guy probably ran fix my line and dropped his sync :(

I thought so too. Some claims were made that you may be "gaining" bandwith by lowering the user's line sync.

What a joke.

45 minutes in que to get a problem sorted, get disconnected when 3rd in line! All after I was promised to be phoned back before 5 today, for probably the billionth time.

My phone bill calling Afrihost over the last few weeks is probably higher than my dsl and isp cost combined.

Afrijoke.

Looks like there could be an issue here, I'm waiting for feedback from our team.

Thanks for the heads up :(

That's really terrible - I know we are not providing the best service right now. We're hoping to add a lot more staff soon so that we can start getting back to what we should be.

Did the issue get resolved? Please PM if not :(

I'll supply whatever is needed, just give me a hint on what to type in where... Presently reading on my Kobo so I stopped trying to listen to soundcloud

Yeah, it would not really make a difference to be honest. And if we had that kind of manpower, we'd do something more awesome with it :)

Exactly, just a client that wants to give Afrihost a bad name and seeing as its his first post on the site. Seems dodge to me

18.8% / 6.25% at 9pm. ****, I'm tired of this goddamned ****ing atrocious 'service'...

Sir demand is apparently very high in JHB. Higher than all the regions at the moment, but soon capacity will come live and you will see a difference In shaping. If you going to blame anyone, it has to be Telkom.

Yes, because this is my first post in this thread, and I've not heard all that before. I don't give a stuffed fig any longer - whether wilfully or not, I've effectively been systematically robbed by Afrihost for months on end, and my patience is wearing really, really thin.

I'm sorry, it's not ideal for everyone I assure you. I still pretty much get shaped every day :(
