Is there a known issue at the moment? Getting 4000+ ping on local teamspeak on afrihost and my sites don't load, etc.
While on a WebAfrica account my ping is 35 and everything loads fine.

EDIT: Seems to be ok now. Will continue to monitor.

There were no issues that I was aware of. Could have been a wobble at your local exchange or on your line till you switched accounts and reset the line. I didn't see any latency spikes on our side - but if it happens again let's do some thorough tests :)

AfriMan I know this might not be the right place to ask this, but what do I do when my Mifi device stops working? I can connect to the device, when I go into 192.168.1.1 it says connected and all, but no data come through to the pc. When I take the Afrihost sim and put it into my other Mtn issued Mifi device it works.

That's a pretty weird one. Can other SIMs work in the device? Is the MTN issued device also a MiFi (same model, I know they do sell them as well)

Hi AfriMan,

You are my last hope.
Since the issue last week was [resolved], I've still been experiencing horrible speeds.
I've been dealing with Donovan, I don't agree with what he is saying.
He is adamant my issue is linked to capacity issues on your network, which I believe could be part of the problem, but is not the entire source of the problem.

I purchased a Web Africa account yesterday, which was also unusable as it was so slow.
How it is possible that if Afrihost has capacity issues and I experience the same problem on a different network.
The answer is that there is a slim to none chance of their being the same issue. Everything points to the last mile, so why is nothing being done?

I've spoken to countless people about this, there are NEVER any support managers to speak to (only supervisors who do nothing).
I've spoken to Prince last night who assured me he would hand over my escalation to someone to feedback to me today - NOTHING.

I honestly think this issue has done irreparable damage to my opinion of Afrihost Support.
Logged 20 April - going on three weeks and not so much as a hint of any solution.

Please help, I'd really like to stay with Afrihost, but your team of incompetent idiots, yes I'm calling them as I as see them; is making impossible to remain your customer.

Yeah exact same model and all. Must sill test other sims in the Afrihost one, but yeah just had to get a working device to the parents for a week, so that is all sorted lol. Will do the test and PM you with the results. BTW I havent looked yet so it might be obvious, how do you factory reset these MIFI's?

I got your PM regarding this, and I'm totally willing to help you.

I'm totally not cool with some of the comments you mention here. Personal opinions and free speech aside, we're all human beings with families and friends.

Please do. If the device is poked then we need to get it sorted for you :(

Hi Afriman,

As a former client, still with access to the ClientZone, I attempted to register for a Free 1G account to test if service here in Cape Town has improved. Yet I get an error about 'invalid number format'

Help please.

I can't see how you signed up here - I think spaces and characters don't work. Maybe send me more details screens on [email protected] :(

Nothing good. You may connect on ADSL2+ initially, but when they switch you to VDSL modulation, everything will die :(

Yeah I could never understand why Telkom went this way, as normal modems can reach over 20mbps. i would have personally went with VDSL over 20mbps, oh well.

I think a lot of their modems were not ADSL 2+ compatible so a lot of clients would need to change their routers anyway, so it probably made sense to replace them with VDSL and skip the ADSL2+ phase.

Yeah, you might not, but you know that 50% is not going to last. Will be down to 18% again sometime soon ???
Hopefully not :)
EDIT: NVM, back to 18.8% :(

It wasn't me - promise :(

Shaping doesn't look too heavy today though - I'm thinking it won't be the whole day (hoping)
