sigh we going no where, like this then

and yes sometimes it goes to 1.2MB/s aka 1200KB/s

nways, can you please perhaps assist with with shaping that has been lasting for the past week ? on 12.5% and my downloads only using 490KB/s ?

Drop me a PM and let's run some thorough tests, this should help me to figure this out with you :(

Hi Afriman,

Please check whats going with my account, I am the 10Mbps Business DSL, my speed test results are appalling, please see below :
Your Latest Results
Last Result:
Download Speed: 2457 kbps (307.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 857 kbps (107.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 46 ms
6/26/2014 5:22:18 PM

1.2MB per sec equates to about 10 megabits per second. 1.2 is the max you'll see on a 10mb line.
So I don't see any issues here.

Hi, are you talking to me?
cause no where in my test result does it say 1.2MB or 1200Kbps....

Sorry I was supposed to quote the post showing the NNTP speeds. (B1G_WH1T3)

South finally gets the capacity upgrade and I still can't get a stable latency to EU game servers (Diablo 3)

280-300ms is the best I get, with constant spikes over 500ms...

WA account hovers around 185-195ms.

Beyond frustrating. July must just hurry up and get here

Hey Afriman, hows the capacity issues looking these days?

I am over my current ISP, running at a cool 5 kbps and under on downloads. meh. 10mbps my A** lol... I wonder how the guys on a 2mbps line is doing...

Anyways, also considering going up to the 20mbps vdsl bundle.

Let's chat.

I wish you guys would just admit and properly look into the fact that Diablo 3 traffic is being shaped by p2p instead of shoving your heads in the sand and thinking everything is perfect, because honestly, this is complete s%#t....

My shaping is back down to - Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P

Once again im sitting at a 2000-3000ms latency in Diablo 3, my account is a 1mb account. 12.5% of 1mbit IS NOT ENOUGH FOR AN ONLINE GAME THAT IS 75% SERVER-SIDE!

So now that you cannot say "capacity issues" I guess I'll get the usual "throughput won't affect latency" crap... Diablo 3 has a major reliance on server-side processing and generating of game environments/monsters etc. When i play the game on any other account that is NOT my uncapped account, the game has a constant stream of 25kB/s DL... So throughput limitations (10kB/s) will clearly affect the games ability to function.

The funny part is, if I use another account and limit the games traffic (using netlimiter) to 10kB/s... i get the exact same results.

Currently, Afrihost is going down as my worst ever internet experience.

I changed from 20mb uncapped to the 200gb capped package to see if things go better. Am i right in saying that i am still on the uncapped till month end ? I changed before the 25th.

Well I had a good 2 weeks of uncapped service, but Afrihost is back its old tricks again. Once again I'm being aggressively shaped to 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P.

It is very disappointing. I would have thought the IPC upgrade in the North would mean less intense shaping. I'm guess we're back to square one. Now to wait for the next North IPC upgrade :(

Definitely pretty bleak speed-wise. What tests have you run? Can you please download and run our Network Test App?

That's pretty weird. We're seeing very little (if any) contention on the South network, so throughput should be pretty good.

Is this in-game latency or general latency on your line?

South is looking pretty good. We're definitely seeing much less shaping, and unshaping must faster in the evenings. Great throughput on realtime for Uncapped as far as our testing shows :)

Chat we shall :)

We're definitely not shaping any gaming traffic that is not using P2P traffic. There are some that do, but I don't believe that Diablo is one of them. When you say you try any other account - do you mean a capped, unshaped account from Afrihost?

Just quoting a post I made in the capped thread...

@Afrihost, I'm currently on your 2meg uncapped product. I, switched over to my capped Afrihost account because of shaping.

I then used up all my data on the capped account and I couldn't access any websites. That's understandable but I couldn't even access Afrihost.com to get my access details to switch over to my uncapped line.

I think that if you capped, it should take you to afrihost.com as a landing page. From there you can purchase more data or view your balance etc.

just my 2c.

PS - I eventually downloaded your mobile app and recharged my prepaid account from there...

You are though. I've proven to you that some D3 traffic falls into the same bucket as P2P.
