That is the maximum download speed that you would achieve of your linespeed percentage wise on Http and P2P downloads.
18% of 2, 4, or 10Mbps, etc

holy smokes...does the percentage decrease or increase on a daily bases depending on usage?

It is all dependent on region usage. For example, CPT is probably under strain at the moment (New Capacity hasnt arrived yet), so there would be more shaping. Dont worry - at night it gets better :D

Im also on 12.5% Download/ 6.25% P2P at the moment - but it really doesnt affect me cause I schedule my downloads for night.

It means that HTTP Downloads are shaped to 18.8% of your line speed. (100KBps = 18.8KBps Max), and P2P is shaped at 6.25% of your line (100KBps = 6.25KBps)

That's harsh! It sounds like throttling, not shaping. Shaping is when things like P2P are curtailed, not HTTP.

Its only downloads :/ Its just that - if it were only P2P, people would just download via HTTP :-( Browsing/Streaming is not affected though.

They're very, very different :)
You need to remember that realtime services are always left un-touched so your browsing, streaming, gaming, VoIP etc etc is always unshaped.

:)Hi Zertop, I enjoy your posts very much as they are informative (+75 I need all the help I can get). My P2P has been upto for a few weeks now and I'm situated 750 m form a DSLAM, just had my port reset can only download at 2-10 kB/s. Switched to nighttime only but only managing about 5 Gb. For my part I was much better off with Mweb 2 Meg uncapped than my 4 Mg uncapped Afrihost. Lets hope that the upgrades get to PE.

WHOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO

Joy is me - I signed up to AH today .... Oh yes .... :):D

That Telkom issue .... Crock of sh.t ... AH account is running like a train - Ohhhh yes.....:D:D

Only problem .... In my excitement, I told the missus that the mother in law should see this ... now apparently the b.tch is on her way to visit

Just wait a bit, I think upgrades are on the way

AGREED!

I am still having issues. My Business Uncapped will not download torrents faster than 6kB/s, and my Dad's Uncapped 10MB is shaped to hell ALL THE TIME NOW. All tickets are still open, and nobody wants to take resposibility. All I want is for both lines to have their physical ports changed, but nothings is being done. I am told that MORE tests need to be done to justify such a request.

It definitely affects me when I have to download updates for projects. I don't care much about torrents during the day, that's what nights are for. Downloads being at a tenth is quite annoying.

We'll only really know if it's related when we get our upgrade and these issues disappear, as they seem to have in the North :(

What I found interesting, is that every time you guys hit a capacity issue, it happens very suddenly? Not a gradual thing. That's what happened to previous time for the South recently in the North and again now in the South?
