Been chatting to Telkom And Afriman ...so putting this out there in case anybody is having similar issues in the Cape Town area...

My current stats from router are:

Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
Type: ATM
Status: Up

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 78 130
Attenuation (dB): 415 255
Output Power (dBm): 199 101
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 3104 884
Rate (Kbps): 3072 512
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.13 0.25

HEC Errors: 0 0
OCD Errors: 0 0
LCD Errors: 0 0

Total ES: 0 0

Before last week Tuesday Attainable Rate was 4096Kbps , it then went down to 2497Kbps. Called Telkom and first they said it Was Afrihost but then they did port reset and now the stats are as in table above. They still insisting they have made no changes on their side and the problem must be with the ISP ? I'm pretty sure this is Telkom and not Afrihost... any suggestions / ideas ?

I have had the pleasure of having bad connectivity almost everyday for most of my time with afrihost. I am really thinking this is the last straw...

I can NOT stream OR youtube. And yes as a user above stated youtube has been horrible the past 2 months with 360p the average streaming quality.

BUT HILARIOUSLY i can DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO AT FULL LINE SPEED. Even while I am shaped to downloads to 18.8% 24/7 7days a week

My packet loss seems to be gone now... for now it it seems mtn's network is broken and they do not know how to fix it. Time to email customer support and follow up on mtn's status on checking up on the packetloss as I am getting it randomly during the day.

I am sorry but at this price capping youtube and having terrible priority with gaming is inexcusable.

I'm having to download video's tonight the streaming on YouTube and Facebook is so bad! Look at the download speed on a 4096 Business Uncapped package! Have the iOS 8 downloads eased up yet Afriman? :p

Getting very horrible ping and packet loss at the moment. Friend in same towns afrihost is doing the same. Everyone else is normal..

This IOS issue is a swak excuse :( 20mbps service feels like 56k dial up

Tracert drops after the exchange

Switch to a free web africa account and the internet is super speedy again and the tracerts complete

Why dont you just shape the IOS update to the ground, or get more capacity, or shape our monthly payments ???

Packet loss, pings into the 999's on cs go

That is it. I am cancelling. Telkom on my sisters line is perfect plug her router in my line and my line is perfect. plug afrihost on her line and it is CRAP.

I almost feel like i work for afrihost support. I will email them they will ask for tracer routes and ping tests and speed test and before you know it 3 hours is gone and the problems resolve themselves.

Fix your network!

tonight again, same issue had to buy more web africa gigs because afrihost is not delivering !!

R199 i have to pay extra because I need the internet now, and afrihost can't deliver.

Anyone else having outages in the CT Kenilworth Wynberg area? I don't think it's Afrihost fault but I might be wrong. Same thing happened last night at midnight but this morning everything was working fine again. Now it's down again.

Same area it seems. But I've tried multiple accounts and they all have the same result so I think it might be a Hellkom issue :(

Yesterday I could use the internet now again we are in the same situation both my Uncapped and my Capped account is Throttled to almost 0.34MBs if Im luckly this is totally unacceptable.

And no word the whole weekend from Afriman or Afriguy.

I like how the iOS8 update brings down the entire Afrihost infrastructure for a week

2Mbps

You're making an afrihost fanboi consider cancelling

What a crap weekend to be with Afrihost.

Entire weekend was spent with slow browsing, slow downloading, slow streaming, disconnects, high latency and a overall terrible experience.
Meanwhile my friends on Webafrica, Telkom and Mweb didn't notice any problems. (one upgrade for IOS should not take your network down).

I can't believe how terrible Afrihost has become since MTN took over. All those "upgrades" to the network, and the network has never been worse...

Sad when what I had honestly thought was the best ISP in SA wont even tell their customers the truth behind the slow speeds. If they are really going to stick with

"We are reporting increased DSL demand throughout the country, possibly as a result of new Apple iOS updates released late last night. "

So and iOS update crippled your whole network?? Doesnt seem believable and if it was true i wouldnt want people to know that a software update is having a huge effect on the network at 2am 6days after the update was released.
