Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

So my irc just disconnected again.

Microsoft Telnet> o 74.117.157.234 6969
Connecting To 74.117.157.234...Could not open connection to the host, on port 6969: Connect failed

Can't telnet to port 6969 but 22 (ssh) works fine so it's not routing. Can connect fine to my box with WA.

If you run a traceroute to the IRC server, does it lost the connection or timeout at any point?
 
No, tracert is fine. As I said it's not routing since I can ssh to the box no problem. It is just connections on port 6969 that fail for about 12 hours a day.

For how long have you been experiencing this issue? It may be a temporary affect of the changes that we are making on our Network Management Software.
 
Guys, what the heck, you ask me to make payments but I am not getting what Im paying for, why then must I pay???? I have been a user of afrihost for more than a year. Im asking, please fix my line or I will have no other choice to move to a different service provider (Im praying I can get some help here cos even though live chat is "online" I can never get through)
 
Currently my line is Syncing at 2048kbps even though Im on the 10240kbps package (which was supposed to take effect from tuesday) my SNR is currently at 18.5 dB and attenuation at 43.5 dB.. I've synced at 4096 all this time, am I being downgraded? meanwhile Im being told that I need to make a payment for the 10240kbps line please tell me wtf
 
Cancelled my subscription with Afrihost.

The poor internet quality would be something I may have tolerated a little longer if Afrihost was honest. Afrihost's customer service insists on continually blaming my line / Telkom while their website acknowledges issues with their network. Using an account from another ISP confirms that there is nothing wrong with my line.
 
I cant deal !! I've cancelled my home connection.... thinking of also cancelling my parents connection with Afrihost
 
Entire weekend YouTube performance has been pathetic. Yes...pathetic. There is no other word for it.

So either you guys are STILL busy after a week sorting out your management software, or you've finished sorting it out and now it's not allocating the correct bandwidth to Home uncapped users wanting to stream.

I said I'd give it till after this weekend and I don't know what I should have expected...but for some reason I am not surprised that it's not fixed. Just empty platitudes by to placate the customers. I don't care about the downloads being shaped, but now giving lesser priority to realtime streaming on uncapped? No thanks. Cancelled.



Feel sorry you guys Afrireps...really I do. Your product you are trying to promote and sell is not even close currently to what your competition has on offer. Hope you fix your network soon.
 
Trying to play some insurgency on a local server today I get 180 ping all the rest are sub 30

"Jump ship"...? Way to make it sound like they are doing me a favour by taking my money without delivering on their promises while actively attempting to deceive me. I am currently considering lodging a CPC complaint against Afrihost.
 
On a 2 Mbps line trying to stream a music video from overseas YouTube server: 25.72 kB/s as opposed to the 200 kB/s I (usually) am able to get...

What is the procedure to follow for a CPC complaint etc
 
Mine is way better this weekend, but a friend (in Cape Town) is battling - no P2P at all this weekend.
