Are you battling with international throughput on your end? I'd really like to troubleshoot :(
I've had a brief look at your previous posts and see you're seeing issues with streaming too? Have you been in touch with our Support team to run through anything?

If you do want to cancel, you need to do so before midnight tonight in order for it to take affect month end.

Yeah international is terrible. Twitch streaming works off and on, but streaming from the university's is unusable (which is the most important).

Google is completely broken, searches either time out or take ages to load. Youtube is the same searching for videos takes forever but once on the page the videos usually load fine in 360p, but yesterday and today 144p won't even load. But even when it's working it's not acceptable performance for a 4Mb line.

Yeah, i talked to support and they told me they can't see anything on their end, and it must be Telkom.

I'd really like to troubleshoot with you, I'm sure I can find what's causing the issues. Drop me a PM and we can get the ball rolling :)

Shaping applied to account - there goes gaming again. Can actually tell ingame when the shaping kicks in because the ping jumps by 80. Ridiculous farce this is.

We know that there is a problem at the moment and our guys are busy looking into this. My personal guess would be that our shaping rules have gone a bit iffy (I know there was a recent traffic signature update). The technical team are combing through all our rules and signatures and make sure everything is working properly and efficiently. We had something similar in the past and this feels very similar to me :(

Thats odd?

Oh on :(
I know we ran some more changes last night at around 8pm which should be addressing these issues. If you try a turbocharge does it normalise the latency?

Last night after 21:00 - Mumble and BF4 suffered from packetloss...again. This after multiple tweaks and updates have been applied since this was reported more than TWO months ago. No thanks. I enjoy my gaming time too much to stay with an ISP that cannot deliver.

Needless to say my alternate ISP accounts work 100%.

6 days till this mess is behind me.

I can understand your frustrations, really sorry that this is happening :( I'm confident that we'll have this resolved soon.

Hey Afriman, I sent you a PM.

Moving soon and I need to cancel my account until the new line is set up. No need in paying for something that I can't use.

Please advise on the best way to go about it.

If AfriMan hasn't replied yet you're more than welcome to FW it to me :)

Shaping applied and getting 60% packet loss on teamspeak again. Guess no gaming again tonight...
You guys should have just left the shaping policy alone. Since you messed with it I haven't had a single day where I could enjoy any of my games, not to mention use teamspeak.
Kind of hard to talk to people when you can only hear 40% of what they are saying in bits and pieces.

EDIT: and when I tested with capped afrihost account, everything was working fine.

:(

Teamspeak should definitely be sorted.

Were you running any other applications or services in the background? I've noticed that keeping a P2P file downloading can affect Team Speak.

Would it be possible to test with all P2P download managers closed?

How can you be so cheap? What's the "Catch" here?

We decided we would take the money we planned to spend on advertising and use it to subsidise our ADSL packages. We decided to use this monthly marketing budget to buy extra ADSL bandwidth and pass this extra bandwidth and saving onto anybody who signed up for any of our ADSL packages.

No offence but where in his entire post did he mention that other services were running? I'm confused. His experience mirrors what so many many...MANY other have been reporting on uncapped. I set out my own testing conditions in a post a couple weeks back to clearly illustrate the only variable was the ISP - not that I think anyone actually took that to heart but whatever.

To add to Qrox's experience I got booted 5 times from HellDivers last night due to connection loss. Ran my standard tests and whalla - packetloss again. Switched accounts and all was A-OK 100% without any further drops.

Please get this right: your network, on the uncapped service where we are concerned, has a problem with packetloss, that has been introduced by your shaping system.

I don't know how to state that any clearer. Despite what you and the other reps keep saying - TeamSpeak, Mumble and gaming sure as hell are being effected by shaping! How your are unable to replicate these conditions is purely beyond me.

This is true. What we've seen in recent times is that demand for bandwidth is outgrowing new signups (most probably due to increased line speeds, VDSL and also more people accessing content via the internet over TV and Radio, etc). However, we are still continuing to invest heavily in our network to ensure that our clients get a great experience. This is a massive investment, probably what most companies would pay for a TV ad campaign.

I think we must be clear that we are not saying that what you are experiencing does not exist or is not a real issue. But we need to find a way to see exactly what you are seeing in order to then analyse what is happening. We are doing our best to test the same games, same VoIP platforms and the conditions reported. We want to replicate your experience so we can make our network better, just saying it's not happening doesn't help in the long run. So the more you can work with us and help us recreate the conditions, the sooner we can isolate any commonalities or conditions that cause some users to experience this while the majority of users are not.

At the time of testing this, I was not running any P2P downloads.

When I started getting this issue, I first thought that it was a telkom fault and reported it, but they say they can't find anything wrong with my line. My other friend who is connected to the same exchange as me doesn't have the same issue either, so that isn't a issue either.

I tried using my friend's WA account some time last week, and didn't have any issues, and as stated earlier, it looked good when I switched to my capped afrihost account as well.
Its also find when shaping is not applied on my uncapped account, but when that shaping kicks in, pings shoot up and packet loss starts kicking in.

I did notice that about 30 minutes after my post last night, the packet loss did drop quite a bit, but it wasn't completely gone. (Between 0.5 and 6% depending on what I was using the internet for at that moment.

Here's hoping your new place is supported by Telkom. I moved in January and before I moved I checked the Telkom site for ADSL support and line support. All looked good until the day I contacted Telkom and they said sorry, cant help you lol.

Our team are working on the network to improve shaping efficiency and traffic management so it's possible that changes were implemented last night that may have addressed whatever could be causing this. I think the best would be to get confirmation from them that their work is complete and then work with you individually to see what could be the issue (if it's not resolved by the changes they make).
