Do I need to give a months notice on cancellation of my line?

This is the worst internet gaming experience I have ever had, and I have been with Telkom, Axxess, Mweb and FNB Connect.

I am so sorry that you are thinking of cancelling. With us you don't have to give a month's notice if you cancel before our billing run (on the 25th).

I was under the impression you were still testing with AfriGenie. Could you guys not come to a solution? :(

This is getting beyond ridiculous, been having on and off issues for the last few months. The supposed speed on my 4 meg line is not at all what I am getting. Once again, another example, currently downloading an ubuntu linux distribution of uct's ftp site, it is a 1gb download and currently taking me more than 6 hours. My speedtest results are laughable.

Afriman/AfriGuy, you guys can say what you want, but ever since the MTN move, your network is SH^T. I've been an afrihost supporter for the last 6 years. All I can say is, I've had enough.

I'm so sad to her this, we definitely want to keep our loyal clients. Those results are certainly terrible and the ping is probably showing us the possible cause here.

Which region are you in?

Afrigenie, the experience is like night and day.
Im not doing any p2p have not changed hardware or even done a reboot on the router, just changed credentials for ADSL and reconnected using your test account.
Nothing on my side has changed at all, I went from my account to struggling to load a youtube video at 240p, to 720p streaming flawlessly.
Gmail loads like a bomb, browsing general web pages come up quickly and no hang ups
Can connect to my VPN in California and pages load quickly and dont hang.

Granted my normal connection is running a little better than yesterday evening, but it is 1:00am - 2:00am right now. But compared to your test connection my account is clearly different. Again this is just regular web traffic, no downloads, no p2p.

DNS has not changed either.

It depends on whether you are comparing a shaped Uncapped account to a Capped account and what conditions you are testing in (and results you're testing for). It's probably best to PM AfriGnie directly so he can analyse the data you've pulled from these tests.

We're also conducting tests on YouTube, gaming, etc with shaped accounts to ensure that they perform as expect - we do this on an ongoing basis.

Sigh. Another issue Afriman. So I wake up on Sunday, put on Youtube. 200kbps on a 4meg line...Restart router, nothing. Change DNS to Google, no difference. Restarted router with Google DNS, nothing.

Load up a clip on Vimeo. Full 3.6mbps. Afriman. Fix please. :(

EDIT: Seriously? From 6AM to 10:40AM, 200kbps. As soon as I send this post, Youtube is using full speed again? I don't even.

That's definitely weird. I can't explain that off the top of my head. Especially after changing DNS, that should really have had some effect. As far as how our shaping works, we should treat YouTube and Vimeo as the same kind of traffic :(

Did this ever happen before? What doesn't make sense is that between 6am and 10am is not heavy traffic, so there should be virtually no contention at that time and shaping should be pretty minimal :(

Usually in the morning I'll have a minor version of this issue but its an easy fix. YouTube just will not use the line. Vimeo would be fine. But usually a page cache refresh or restarting the browser will fix the issue.

Anybody else in Cape Town area with massive ping problems?

Getting 500-600ms to UK.

We are seeing some high latency in the South during peak periods when demand is very high. We are still in the process of eliminating P2P traffic that should be shaped on Uncapped accounts. Once this is completed we hope to bring that down considerably :(

Yeah. Since about 8:30pm or so the ping started to spike to the ipc, otherwise has been fine the whole day for me.

It depends on demand. Last night it looked like just before 9pm but we've seen demand spike as early as just after 8pm :(

Hi, I am also having issues with youtube.
Max download of 200kbps on a 4mb line. Been experiencing this issue for several weeks now. Pretoria, Garsfontein area.

Hi!

Would it be possible for you to check your DNS Settings on your ADSL modem? Quite a few users had similar issues, and switching to manual DNS and entering 196.7.7.7 as the primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 as the secondary DNS seemed to help a lot!

My primary DNS is already 196.7.7.7. Have changed my secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 as mentioned. Will keep monitoring.

How long is this going to take, this problem has been going on since the beginning of the year almost. Are you actually trying to fix it?

They will either ignore this or tell you they cant give you an answer. This question has been repeatedly asked over quite some time and still we haven't got a timeline of any sorts.

Are you still seeing the packet loss and latency to Team Speak? Our Critical Care Team have done extensive testing, so there should be some improvement.

Still the same problem, ping sitting at 50 - 80 with jitter of 10 - 40 the whole time, 240 - 280 ping in league of legends and 60 - 80 ping in CS:GO after about 6pm in the evening till about 12am..

Urgh, I'm really sorry about this :( I know these issues around CS:GO have been ongoing for far too long. I promise you, we have our guys working on getting this fixed up.

And then the usual spikes ontop of that. It's 9pm, bad pings on my games and Twitch.tv isn't working at all.
