Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

It depends on whether you are comparing a shaped Uncapped account to a Capped account and what conditions you are testing in (and results you're testing for). It's probably best to PM AfriGnie directly so he can analyse the data you've pulled from these tests.

We're also conducting tests on YouTube, gaming, etc with shaped accounts to ensure that they perform as expect - we do this on an ongoing basis.

I will PM Afrignie with my results as I dont believe you have the full picture or have been following along. All the conditions have been explained and are not inline with what Afrigeni is indicating your shaped connection is supposed to be doing.

And then the usual spikes ontop of that. It's 9pm, bad pings on my games and Twitch.tv isn't working at all.

9pm is right in the middle of when we see peak demand on the network, particularly in the South at the moment. Until we can control P2P traffic more effectively, we are seeing an increase in latency, but last night didn't actually seem to be as bad as it's been over the last week or so.

I thought that there is probably a long convo that I have missed here. But I'm sure the Genie is all over this one :)

Sorry, AfriHost, but I'm out. If I cancel before the 25th, will my account still work until the end of the month? I will want to migrate my line away as well, how do I go about it?

If you request a cancellation before the 25th of the current month, your product will remain active until the last day of the month, and then be cancelled at the end of the month.

In your ClientZone you will just select the Edit Package option for your Uncapped account and ADSL line and select the Cancel option.

And my line? How do I coordinate my line moving back to Telkom or over to CW, preferably?

You will not have any down time.

You will go to your line in the client zone and request a cancellation from there. This will be executed at the end of each month. Should take 48 hours - maybe more, maybe less.

You should get a notification from AH that your line as been migrated back to Telkom and it should disappear from your ClientZone as well.

Then you simply contact CW and ask that the line be transferred and they will do the rest.

You will most like be responsible to pay a pro-rata fee for the small amount of time the line sits with Telkom and then when moved to CW they will charge you pro-rata from the data they have the line as well.

Your line will NOT be off in any point of the move :)

For your ADSL line, when you choose the Cancel option, you will have a number of choices, you will just need to choose the Migrate Back ADSL line option, this will then move the ADSL back to Telkom as it is now.

Thanks!

You seem to have articulated that process significantly better than I did!

AfriGeni,

Please can you respond to my PM, I am still waiting a response regarding the matter we were discussing regarding my connection. AfriMan said I should continue to reach you through PM and I have heard nothing from you since Friday last week.

:(

I sent a PM to you a few days ago, it isn't appearing in my Sent Items though, I'm going to re-sent it quickly.

Yes, and during the day as well. Can you please investigate or should I open a support ticket?

I just need you to send me a PM with your ADSL details, and I'll check on things from my side.

Afriman and Afrigenie

Can you please explain to me now, why was I shaped the whole night, as far as I remember, people get unshaped. This time 1am shaped, 2am shaped, 3am shaped 4am shaped, 5am shaped, 6am shaped. Explain please. And I have only done 143.23 GB on a 10mb line uncapped... *New Explanation come up*

Hey Afriman and Afrigenie

I would like to know whats going on with the shaping on the uncapped accounts. I had to finish a deadline last night, and I was up until 3am doing work. I checked my shaping policy, and it was at 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P. I got up now for work, and the shaping policy still hasn't changed. Is the Afrihost's network struggling again?

I do understand that there are Windows updates, Nvidia driver updates, and GTA V and Mortal Kombat X were all released yesterday, but it just seems a bit unfair to shape your home uncapped users 24/7.

Remember that shaping is completely based on demand, so if there is consistent demand through the night (very unlikely and hardly ever happens) then shaping would be consistent with that demand.

From my reports, everyone in the North should have been unshaped by the latest around 1am, so please PM your username so I can confirm.
